Photo verification petition

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Alot of posts as of late with the amount of fake people on the site.

I for one think fab should make everyone photo/meet verified if it's meet verified maybe have like a refer/invite member option

And make it £5 a month membership for all it will deter the people from joining and die hard members like myself who has over 15 years on fab wouldn't mind paying it..

It's scary when u think of it all you need to do is do a Google lens search on 50 percent of pics on here and they come back as nicked. Even to the point people could get in trouble with partners etc who have had there pics nicked. And what else are these fake people capable of ?

Any other suggestions welcomed

Just block all non verifieds.. the site gives you tools to filter out people you dont want to meet

Yeah but there are genuine non verified people some of who I have met . If you go through majority of the posts all the people say the same thing its become a joke

Haven't you just contradicted your own argument with this second comment?

You admit there are unverified profiles of genuine people, but insist everyone should be verified to prove they are genuine?

Noone needs to prove who they are the site gives you tools to use but more so go on your own judgement, even if they are photo verified they can still be fakes and scammers, or not turn up or use fake photos

No not contradicting myself just saying some non verified people are genuine and obviously after met get a meet verification. I was aiming my original comment mainly at ppl who have been in here over a year . No veris and 1 pic off of google u report them and nothing happens

Those profiles stand out like a sore thumb. Report, block and move on...why penalise everyone financially when it's that simple?

Use your message filter to stop those without veris or a PV from mailing you and don't message those that don't have the veri that you require.

You can't really expect others to change how they use the site (not wanting to PV) just because it doesn't suit your needs.

Charging a monthly fee will put a lot of genuine people off as will enforcing verification.

Just because you are here 15 years and are a hard core member doesn't mean everyone wants to be here that long or have that level of involvement.

Some are just dipping their toes in and trying to find their way and will be put off by lots of restrictions.

When I joined 6 years ago I had zero experience in this world and would never have stayed if I had to jump through hoops.

The best advice to anyone finding themselves constantly chatting to fake profiles is to take a look at their own vetting procedures and stop doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different outcome.

For those not engaging with fake profiles why would it matter how many there are?

Last week I had to create a new, single guy profile to get in touch with admin because of a glitch when I tried to change my password on my current account which led to me being locked out.

When it came to submitting my temporary account details, I couldn't proceed until I had been photo verified.

Is this a new requirement for all prospective accounts now?

No I think they do this for repeat offenders.

Haha, as I've been on here for over 10 years, I don't think I qualify as a repeat offender

OP, the “fake” photos is nowhere near 50%. Probably 5% tops. Maybe you should volunteer to be a Pic Moderator?

A number of us have found that we have been required to photo verify in order to complete the process of setting up our account and this has been the case for well over the past year.

Phot verification wasn't compulsory when I first began using fab 10 years ago, but on returning to fab after a break from the site it seems that site owners are at least perhaps trialing it

I've been here on and off for 8ish years so I am! some of my profiles they've done this and others they haven't. I think it's the amount of time between deleting a profile and making another one, that's my theory anyway.

Negative comments from people who are paying members and verified . Makes sense that,

Why should people block them and move on they shouldn’t be allowed on the site, do you not think it’s creepy ? People using other peoples photos and wanting to meet people as a female I do, it’s not a case of block and move on is it, when there is so many of them

Your might have to explain that one.

There was nothing negative in what I said.

Just common sense.

So how come I've been here 6 years and never once chatted to a fake profile if they are so prolific?

It's nothing to do with luck.

I've had my pics and entire profile copied by well verified fee paying fabbers who have been here longer than me so I have good reason to be wary of people and their verifications but I still don't believe in making the site owners hold everyone's hand for them.

Why is it not? Those profiles literally have zero bearing on my user experience because I block report and move on

That’s you tho isn’t it not everyone els, so what your saying is basically let the fakes sign up the site will be over run by them but that’s ok you’ll just block them all makes sense this is a adult site for fun not for people to have a laugh and make fake accounts

This.

In 15 years of using the site I've never bothered photo verifying. We've never done it as a couple.

We also had a long spell without being site supporters.

Are we 'genuine' ?

Nothing like a passive aggressive dig

We meet people too. And I said block, REPORT and move on. Some don't go immediately but I've seen plenty of repeat offenders have either their accounts or their "borrowed" photos removed

So just because you've had some bad experiences you think it's acceptable to suggest I'm making it up?

How very adult of you.

There are a few reasons why they do this, sometimes it isn't about "offenders"

It is best to report and block anyone you think is fake and let Admin do their thing.

If you only want to speak to verified people you can filter out unverified people from here then the site will work for you how you want it to
