I find it a bit irritating sometimes when I hide my profile because I’m not meeting and just having a nosy, &/or fancy a break from messages, and then I continue to receive new messages from new people who have me on their hotlist. Especially when they ask “you taking a break?” or “you getting tortured?” - if you think that’s the case, why are you using a loophole to get through to me anyway!?
What do we think? Maybe even if there was an option on hiding profile to toggle on or off still be able to receive messages only from people you’ve already connected with… I’m sure some people are happy to still chat with friends or people they’re getting to know which I do too when I’m hidden. But surely hidden profile signals “not looking to meet someone new right now.” |

"You can use your use messaging filters.
I believe if you've previously messaged, they can still contact you if you have previously messaged them. "
My message filters are really strict - these are people who have never messaged me before, that’s my point.
They wouldn’t be able to find my profile and message me via search, but because they have me saved in hotlist, they can click on my hidden profile, then choose to still message from the top left. |

If they have never messaged you before then change your message filters so that no gender can mail you and their mail can't be sent. Only those you have previously been in contact with you can. |

"Yeah just block all men.
"receive new messages from new people"
Where did OP say men, asking for a friend "
LOL you’re right, I didn’t say men - although I did mostly mean men! Only because they are generally the ones who do this.
Have zero issue receiving messages from them the rest of the time. I was just pointing out that there is frequently some circumventing going on when it comes to hiding your profile for a break (which in my opinion is a bit cheeky and defeats the purpose somewhat) and asking for some other opinions &/or technical advice on how to counter it.
For anyone else who feels their feathers getting all puffed up about what I said… please go and have a lie down it’s really not that deep. |

Your only option is message filters but that won't stop all messages.
I know what you mean though about annoying messages when profile is hidden. I hate receiving messages asking "are you okay" ect, when I hide mine ...
It's like they think you must have some kind of issue going on if you hide your profile... |
