Messing about, El and I did a search for our handle and google picked it up from HER single profile and took us straight to her profile. Interesting things were
a.) I thought details like that profiles needed a log in to view
b.) It seemed to be showing an older profile from about a week ago (she had changed some very small detail
c.) Why on earth should the verifications be in anyway public.
In fact why on earth are ANY but the most basic of details be visible outside the firewall? It is not unfeasible for peoples' handles to leak into their real lives but we surely CANNOT make this aspect of our lives google-searchable...can you please advise US ALL? |

Have you made sure you have clicked on the privacy options?
If you have then don't forget if you want to search for a username you have to be logged out , otherwise you will see them because you are logged in.
To hide the verifications you need to do this from "your account" page. |

"You need to set your privacy settings to not show on search engines"
I would have thought that would be the default (private / do not show on search engines) rather leaving the onus on individual users to set: not everyone wants to be bale to have their profile searchable on the internet.
If anyone wants it, then the setting should allow to turn it on rather than the other way round. |
