It’s so easy to do just scrolling through the list of messages as the button is on the side.
The other option could be a select box on the side and then you have to go to a “delete selected” button instead. There’s many ways it could be implemented |

"Messages seem too easy to delete. Could we get a bin that they go in before they actually get properly deleted? "
This would actually be a great idea, then after a set number of days the recycling bin would be automatically deleted if not deleted by user. Probably a additional feature for site supporters. |
