disapointment with club reviews

Two points to raise

1) At the weekend a review of a sauna club in the midlands was posted that was less than flattering 9not posted by us or anyone we know). It has now gone. What is the point in club reviews if the negative comments are deleted? BTW it did read like a review and not a flame

2) The number of clubs with high review count that simply consist of the same people posting over and over again how good last weekend was is getting positively stupid (and to be frank are counter productive as our thoughts are "my god, the club must be dire if they need that sort of publicity from friends of the owners")

Lets just get back to honest reviews please and not pseudo adverts

I completely agree, one review, per profile, per club, and leave it on wether it's good or bad!

A counterpoint option from the owner work be a good addition.

I've seen something similar on tripadvisor, gives the owner a chance to argue the other side if the complaint is due to a misunderstanding or something.

Negative comments should stay. I'm currently deciding on which club to visit for my first visit to a club, and I find the negative comments as valuable as the positive comments.

I agree each poster should only review each club once per year

Agree, regulars should not be allowed to consistently fab review their club. It looks desperate and puts me off.

I've left 4 reviews if memory serves, and having been off the scene a while will again visit clubs and review, however removing the negative ones isn't fair or what the review function is for

I disagree that owners can answer back though, I've seen how disastrous that is, so that would need monitoring and would possibly cause more abuse to the people leaving a review

The club review section has become a total waste of time.

One club has 7 reviews from the same profile in a single month.

Bad reviews get deleted, so you have no way of knowing if the venue is any good anyway.

No point is being served other than people trying to promote a certain venue.

One club in the midlands has an avid fan, they have left over 50 reviews for the same club. Not a bad % out of the 386 reviews total

You have raised some very good points and we will be making changes to the clubs pages in 2013

As a start we may simply count the newest rating per user.

Even as a stopgap measure, that would be a huge improvement!

Think this may well encourage the same people to increase their postings.

So as to keep "their" favourite club at the top.

thing is....

your mums cooking, is not as good as my mums cooking....

see where I am going with this ?

some fair points about the reviews though, and the number of repeat, but each night is so very different in the same club !

All you can do is go out, try the club, look at each club as a night out with potential, what have you got to lose ?

mostly they all have something positive. Some nights down your local pub are better than others.....

best thing about the clubs are the people, swingers are without doubt the best group of friendly as ease people I have met. I would rather socialise with (and I do) you lot than other groups of people..

Go to the club and make your own mind up...and have fun..

So if we visit a club 6 times next week, we should leave 6 reviews about it.

Club now has 600 reviews from 2 single guys that get in free for leaving top reviews.

See where i am going with this

ermmmm no actually I do not.

The stop gap method described would only count as 2 reviews not 12. What you describe could occur under the current system however.

We think the new move is an excellent idea.

also when a person put a honest review and think it is avoid 2 then certain followers of the club and close friends then start on that person and call them a lier, and also a certain party holder has said 1 phone call 2 a admin he has private number off and he can get anything removed, and have seen them removed, so like above said club reviews seem pointless,

Which party holder had said he is phoning admin asking for reviews to be removed? This simply is not true. You can contact us privately with details.

To be fair, there are certain people who do endlessly plug the same venue. Shouldn't be difficult to allow one review per profile. And keep it honest. If its a poor review leave it in. How will anyone make a true decision on visiting somewhere if the club doesn't have an honest unbiased review?

People still dont understand its a review of the CLUB not the night out.

1 review of the club is more than enough for anyone.

Will never end until only 1 review per club is enforced.

Had to post here when I saw the post.. I agree 100% with you all as,I think something should be do with ref to reviews. Either 1 review in say every 3 month or if you post a new one the old one is removed.

As a club owner we ask our members to only leave one review, good or bad. If there has been changes since the last visit then that's different.

Do not agree with certain clubs getting there members to constantly post every visit with the same shit ... I had great night yet again blar blar or ... Going tomorrow night blar blar

Sorry for the rant x

I know of one club where the reviews are instantly recognisable as being the owners themselves, promoting their own place.

The point is, it is already a successful venue - they don't need to do so, but still do.

should be taken of the site if found to be using fake profiles,we know a club that does it all the time.

Why not have just one review per user including a star rating and with the option for people to edit and update them if they wish to allow for changes of opinions/updates?

And owners should be able to respond to comments - the fact that they do or don't would be a fair indication in itself of what to expect for a visit so seems a valuable thing to have.

Ive found that a lot of reviews are done by friends of the owners who recruit single guys to attend these clubs with the intention of making single guys pay 10 times more that single women to enter a mediocre venue.with no gurantee of action what so ever as everyone in the club know everone else.

just wrong in my eyes

That would be nice as there has been a forum post recently about a particular club up north, when I went to the club review, all it seemed was a whole lot of arguing and naming of people in the reviews yet only some have been removed? It does paint a very bad picture of the club and I think ALL reviews where they are being disrespectful to others should be removed not just some.

I think people should be allowed to post twice on a club but must be different nights for example, my friend and I can only visit clubs on a Saturday nights and some places have not been good yet we have heard that Friday nights are really good at these particular clubs so our review may be slightly biased as we have little chance of going on Friday nights. We do plan to go again but when is going to be difficult

If i may throw an opinion in.....

How about only allowing the option to place 1 review of a particular club per month?

Or, should the software allow, 1 review per month, unless your rating changes.

Ive just browsed the reviews for a club based in the Chorley area and counted 9 reviews from the same single female over a 1 month period (mid Nov to mid Dec) all with virtually identical wording.........!

That's a good idea unless you for example, go to a party in say January but have the opportunity to go again in the same month, a different night maybe I think would be better.

9 reviews! Now that I don't agree with especially if they are identical, makes for dull reading

There is one club where 200+ reviews have been left by the same 4 people in around 12 months and the same 4 people jumped down the throat of someone who left a bad review.

i think i am in the camp of maximum 1 review every 3 or 6 months per club.... and if you have one already then that one is removed.... so you only have one review showing at any time

maybe that will also stop a lot of the spats as well as regulars won't be able to reply..

sometimes I feel that reviews should be based on those things the club can control, be that facilities and how the club is run,i.e behaviour issues.. and not of those things the club can't... such as the amount of people who were in attendance, how people intereacted with others (the cliquey arguement)

I do agree that club owners should have a right to reply, but use that with regards to club facilities and not to criticise ppl who have left reviews...
