It would be great if there was a way that people who have blocked everyone of my sex didn't show up on my news feed, picture gallery or anywhere on the site. There's nothing more frustrating for me than reading someone's profile, liking what I read and then getting that big bold yellow banner flash up on my screen. It wastes time when searching. Also, if I block someone, I don't want to see them in my search results! Blocked should mean blocked completely. Thank you for reading and I hope you find my feedback useful for your website Mr Fabswingers.com. |

I agree. It would make it much easier and a more pleasant experience to be able to tailor what I see and who sees me.
On advanced search you can choose to only search for people who are looking for TV/TS (or any category), so that should stop you wasting time on profiles who aren’t looking for you, at least. |

We agree with you OP. Once blocked they can't see us and we can't see them except to say their profile is blocked such as in a forum chat
"Comment by blocked user" and their username perhaps?
We find this a real drag in Chat too when we're chatting and there are always a couple egging us on to have this and do that and we've blocked them.
Rant over, hope they sort this one. |

I agree with you.
We have single guys blocked as not our thing. We don't see local update's from them and we don't see them on our "who's looked at us" history.
We also have TS/TV blocked as also not our thing. However they do show up in our "who's looked at us" history.
Why? Why is one category we blocked not shown in the history but another category we blocked is? I'm not saying to be inflammatory or rude, I'm just pointing out the inconsistencies in how fab operates. Makes no sense.
If someone's blocked you also shouldn't be able to see their forum posts OR at the very least their should be an option to block someone's posts as well. Like you said, blocked means blocked and it's kind half baked on fab.
Whilst this always pisses someone off on Fab, the site is desperately in need of an overhaul and update in many areas. Someone's making money off site supporter fees so it's about time there was a little investment back into modernizing the site some what. It's barely changed in the decade we've been here. |

Totally agree about the site owners investing in the site. We've been here a long time and not seen any improvements to the site. So many threads where people suggest things but not once seen anything implemented.
This site could be way bigger and better if tweaked and modernised, its incredibly dated. |

It puts me off upgradiny to site supporter. as the owners don't seem to take suggestions on board. I have Emailed the site owners about things before but had no reply. I believe Fab was set up in 2006 and I don't think it's been changed much since then. The glossary still refers to MSN! |

It's not just dated, it's completely out of date in may respects.
Fingers crossed the site gets a noticeable update on it's 20th birthday eh |

To be honest, posts like this make me laugh, some of the complaints above are being made by profiles that have been here for years , one said 2006 lol. You complain about a site being this or that and the site should do this or that to suit the individual. The site is a business, wheres the sense in a business limiting access to profiles to the masses to suit individuals, it's a ridiculous concept from a business point of view. It's like a bakers shop saying let's not put all our products on show as some customers hate cream. The site is increasing membership every year so you don't fix what's not broken. Add into the mix the lack of alternatives to Fab that's another incentive not to change , if people were leaving Fab in droves to another site then it would look at that but there not , like some of you guys n gals above , your still here and logging in . |

All I'm getting from this thread is "I saw something and I'd rather I didnt".
Is it really that big of a deal? Do you not possess the ability to ignore things? |

Some solutions to ease the frustration.
Firstly understand the difference between a filter and a block.
Filters are there to stop people contacting you, so yes, you can still view them but can't contact them. It's a means of deciding who can send a message and can be switched on and off at your leisure depending on your current preferences. Blocks are profile specific and designed to target individual profiles to stop them both viewing and contacting you. Useful if someone is an arse but also handy to use as permanent filters for profiles you'll never be interested in.
If you find yourself filtered then suck it up. For whatever reason they're not looking for you right now. It might not be permanent.
If you come across a profile and find you're blocked? Block them back - it won't happen again and they can't switch it off their end and have a sneaky peek at you another time.
Blocking is primarily a function to stop people contacting you and viewing you. This isn't Facebook though. It doesn't stop them seeing forum posts. There are rules to stop them using forum threads to make contact to circumnavigate a block so if it happens just report them.
For those bemoaning the site features and saying it's outdated? Of course it is. Lots of facilities could be added. But then don't forget it's a free site. Becoming a site supporter gets you a few extras but there's no need to pay in order to use the site for it's intended purpose - making contact with people.
It doesn't need bells and whistles to do that. More additional functions doesn't guarantee anything will change. There'll just be new things for people to moan about and blame for a lack of success.
If you're not enjoying the site then the door is always open - it's easy to leave. And if you think there are better options then why stay here in the first place?

Actually…. This specifically I absolutely disagree with you on!
Just because someone may not be your cup of tea for what you are after, it doesn’t make an opinion or a comment in a thread less valid!
I thought we would be more adult than that..
For example, I have meant you in a club… I think you are both nice people, we have chatted! But if we are in a big group discussion what you are saying is that my voice should be muted because I am not what you are after!…. Think about it…..
If what you had said above was in practice… you wouldn’t see a single word of what I just said |

As a web designer I offered to do it for free a number of years ago, nothing ever came of it. |
