It would be a really useful feature to have Contacts, with Contact Categories, which you'd be able to use above and beyond Friends or Hotlist people. Adding others as friends gives them access to private pics, so is a fairly trusted type of person.
If we could add people as Contacts, we could then add them to a Category, ideally being able to pull up those groups of people, when we want to.
Why? If you want to denote people as possible contacts when you are going to a specific place, whether a town, club, social meet etc, it would allow you to quickly find them, to message etc. If you organise events, it would likewise allow you to pull your list together.
If anyone you have added as a Contact also had this listed when viewing their profile, it would add further benefit.
The Contact Categories could include some that are pre-filled though it should also let you create your own, such as 'Manchester Possible Meet', 'Club social friend', whatever would be relevant to each of us to want to use.
We would retain the ability to still make notes on profiles. As well as block people - we wouldn't have to lose any existing functionality or features. Ideally it would be available for everyone, whether a site supporter or not. It might even add some 'glue', helping to stop people from deleting and creating multiple new profiles.
And it could be helpful so that you don't add people in to your Friends list, where they may not warrant the level of trust to be given access to your Friends only pics.

"This sounds like a great idea! "
Glad you think so too! .
I should have worded this thread title differently, emphasising it was a site feature suggestion. I think the majority of users would like and use it. |

"What about privacy not everyone might want to be found when the other does"
People can be added to the Hotlist option now, which provides the same ability. Potentially contacts could still have reciprocal agreement, as per Friends. You like the idea of having more organised contacts otherwise? There are probably several ways this enhanced functionality could work.
But people who want to observe others will use Hotlist, profile searches, just save the url to a profile or many other ways.
The improvement idea adds a lot of benefits, so any drawbacks could be considered and adjustments included. |
