Why should members, who perhaps are not meeting at the moment and have hidden their profile, be banned from making a contribution to the forums? Why don't you just let people run their profiles, hidden or otherwise, as they wish |

Fab can be an overwhelming place for one reason or another and the facility to hide your profile is very welcome
I think people should still be able to fully participate in the forum, chat rooms, looking through profiles, etc
I've used it regularly.
If anyone contacts me and their profile is hidden - once it's mentioned, they usually unhide their profile so i can view. If they don't want to, well that's their perogative.. You have the option to engage, ignore or block |

My thoughts exactly.
Been seeing a fair few threads lately suggesting the banning / removal of users who might use the site differently to those posting such threads.
Members are free to use the site as they choose, providing they stick to the rules set out by site owners.
For example, I know that there are some users whose only interest is the forums. So, according to some, these people should be removed from the site. |

There are lots of conversations about tweaking the rules My query is why we can't have TV couples x
The site admin, whom presumably contribute a lot of unpaid time, will have years of experience on what works and what doesn't. They've also provided lots of tools to allow ppl to customise their experience on fab, from message filters to profile and search settings.
I'd leave site as is in regard of hidden profiles, and ignore users if their use of site contrary to your expectations.

I sometimes hide mine if I want to go in forum and not be pestered with messages
I don't see what harm it does tbh.
If I get contact from a hidden profile I'd not reply, but think it's fine if they want to chat to friends or use forum. |

I don't see the problem. People take breaks every now and then for many reasons but still want to participate. So what? It doesn't impact on anyone.
Perhaps just Concentrate on your own presence and use of the site. |

Why?
By commenting on the forums I’m not inviting anyone to look at my profile (unless it’s part of the thread). Hiding is a feature I see no reason to restrict anyone that chooses to make use of it.
I hide my profile regularly.

A majority who comment and hide their profile are anti Vax then decide to send a private message with silly links these people should be banned trying to brain wash people who already have an opinion of their own that aren't against the vaccine |

No way should that happen... I have my profile mostly hidden at the moment due to Covid and the fact I'm not meeting..I get too many messages from some guys wanting to meet even though it does say on my profile that I am not meeting!! |

People hide their profiles for a multitude of reasons so I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to post on the forums just because their profiles are hidden. Like others have said let people run their profiles the way they want if people worried less about others are doing on here and what they have on their profiles they might actually enjoy fab a lot more . |

Ooooh. Tough one.
On one hand I'm a live and let live person. Don't start none won't get none. But I have had to deal with Fabbers who have a hidden profile commenting on threads I have started or joined and being really really rude.
They feel brave enough to do it because they know you can't see them and if you bump into them somewhere you won't know it.
Of course they are reported straightaway but who knows what happens with that? |

Because sometimes we have more pressing things in life to deal with?
We've just "hidden" for 4 months - stops messages & requests to meet & it better than ignoring people.
Doesn't mean we shouldn't of been able to use forums if we'd wanted too. |

A Couple, new to the site, with whom I've been talking, told me that after only 5 days, they had received 100's of responses.
But it wasn't just the unimaginative content by some that annoyed them, but the "Muppets" who turned nasty because a reply from the Couple wasn't quick enough, or that they'd said "No Thanks" to the single male whingers.
The Couple was about to give up, but have hidden their profile to give themselves some space and time to draw breath.
Thus, they should still have access to the rest of the site; it's not their fault they've chosen to hide their profile! |

People should be able to use the site as they see fit.
I really don’t see what difference it makes to the forum use, if someone’s profile is hidden?
It seems a little entitled to me tbh. |

Can’t see what that has to do with hiding a profile

I think in general terms that it’s best not to demand rules to dictate other people’s behaviour, preferences or labels.
I see so many messages on here complaining that someone else has done something slightly different, called their preferences something different, or likes something different, and people then insisting they’re wrong.
Wouldn’t it be best to just accept that we’re all different? And when people don’t fit into the particular band of behaviours and choices that you’re comfortable with to simply ignore them and move your attention elsewhere?
I say dozens of people everyday that I’m not interested in, and just as many who would have zero interest in me (because they’re idiots mainly) and that’s absolutely 100% fine.
At best, simply move on and ignore. No need to comment. At worst, block and move on. |
