Do you think if Fab charged more for being a site supporter or even made it a paying members site it would deter a lot of the fakes and timewasters and if so how much would you be willing to pay if it meant that most left of the site where genuine ?

Somewhere in Co. Down

If it was a paying site a lot of genuine people wouldn't have joined in the first place. I know I would not have I wanted to see what it was like before I joined.

Fakes will always be on here you just need to learn to spot them and avoid them to be fair most are easily spotted .

We are a site supporters but if it would be a paying site, we would not join. So pay option is a big no for us.

If fab increased the cost or made it a pay only site, they'd likely see a fall in revenue.

I see quite a few profiles that are not site supporters.

I would agree that those who have made a contribution are more likely to stick around - at least until their site supporters pass expires, but if you make it compulsory to pay, you'll likely see a fall in membership.

I'm quite happy paying a fiver now and again to support the site, but if it became a pay only site, I would be history.

Similarly, putting up the price would likely result in fewer people supporting the site financially.

No. People would consider it a worthwhile fee for entertaining themselves by winding people up, and people would think that fee paying removed fakes

The problem isn't the price, its the people abusing the site.

Prolific thefts of other users photos, internet and social media photos passed off as someones own images/videos, is one of the issues that seems to crop up.

Then the reoccuring profiles that pop up, that troll, use and abuse users of the site and so on, are another issue.

The fake profiles set up by one person that verify their other fake accounts is another problem.

I have read on other forum posts about video verification being an option to join the site. If it was to be done each time site supporter was renewed, it would drastically reduce the timewasters, fakes and the more genuine people would have no problem with it, as they would have nothing to hide.

A private verification video showing clear face shots and writing the time, date, username, site name and verification code, would take five minutes.

Not only would users be supporting the site, they would be making it safer and more secure as well.

Do you think this would work?

.......

This has been bought up many times and alot of well verified (meet verified) users say they wouldn't do this.

The site offers all the tools to eliminate the majority of what you say but way of filters.

Users have the ability to use filters to make the site work how they want it to work.

There isn't a filter for photo thieves, timewasters, abusers etc etc.

If nobody has anything to hide, video verification is the way forward.

It would make the job easier for moderators.

It would reduce the number people making fake accounts.

It would give Fab quality over quantity and more genuine people joining.

At the moment, anyone who pays a fiver seems to think they can behave in any manner they want because they have paid a fee.

If video verification was added when site supporter renewal was needed, it would reduce the messers.

It would reduce fly by night (or shag) profiles.

It would also deter those who wish to harm others if they had to show their face on video.

One video verification to join the site, then each time site supporter was is renewed.

Quality attracts quality.

Safety attracts safety.

Genuine people attract genuine people.

Mate, I do get what you are saying. But essentially you will still get the same either way.

When you post anything on the internet it is easily stolen or copied. It's why in the FAQ it says if you are worried about such things. Make photos, video, friends only or private.

There are far more genuine people on this site than their are none genuine.

A genuine person will always shine through.

We have nothing to hide. We visit the Attic as often when we can when it is open. But I wouldn't feel the need to video verify everytime the site support ends.

Infact site support isn't mandatory it is an option to get a few perks and support the site. It's been said time and time again that mandatory payment won't be compulsory on the site.

I do get what you mean. But on the other hand we have never been victim to what you describe. Call it lucky or whatever. But we decide who is worth our time and who isn't. It's worked for us.

I agree with what you say.

I also think video verification could work.

I also know and met many people on Fab with different views on this subject, and also have met lots of people at clubs and know all the people above are genuine.

That's the beauty and diversity of talking and putting ideas out there. Some will agree, some will disagree (some send snide mesaages and block before you can reply )

But most of all, its good to share ideas and make a better site
