Do we have a time scale on when the meets section will re open??
Jump to: Newest in thread
I have noted lately that there has been an influx of forum posts started "looking for" individuals that meet a criteria.
These seem to be a "looking to meet" type post.
The UK is moving on and looking to establish venues and clubs again.
Do we have a timeline for the meets section to be reopened?
I just think the forums will start to get diluted from more and more "looking for" type posting...
And wonder if perhaps the meets section can be opened for responsible social distanced meets (disable dropdown menu for other activities).
Up for comment and discussion. |

Been discussed to death. I think the final answer (though never actually confirmed recently) is that until the Government allows unrestricted social contact (ie June 21st) then the meets functionality will remain closed.
Despite loads of people meeting for socials, clubs opening, people obviously holding meets.... |

Was wondering this too... The locals are foaming at the mouth for me to get a new social underway... The actual get together won't be until we are allowed but the forum thread is often running for around 2 months beforehand... Looks like the event won't be until the usual August one now |

Othersites are allowing it however.

I understand the restrictions are there for member safety, however, social meeting is now a viable option.
The meets section could offer social meetings like it did before. But only social!!
I also understand that individuals will flaunt that straight away.
But they are doing that and have been doing that for months.
It would interesting hear from the FAB admin to see what their thoughts are on the subject and what sort of plan they have to move forward.

Fab meets should now be open for people to arrange legal outdoor meets and from 17 May rule of 6 indoors will return so perfectly legal to meet inside a pub or private homes so meets should be open ready for the 17th May easing |

As of now, we are able to meet another household outdoors. Later this month we will be able to indoors, so why are we not able to advertise the fact on here?
We are wanting to invite people to our home so we can be watched, no contact or physical interaction, yet the site won’t allow it. We are all adults and understand risk and it should be up to individual parties to make their own decisions.
It’s nothing but virtue signalling by the site. |

"Surely the Meets section is for people looking to FUCK NOW.
If people want a social they would be chatting via message and arrange via message.
"
Why surely? Isn’t there a separate indicator or check box for “meet today”? It would be nice to advertise or seek meets in the future. Club events, private parties etc. With the current stance from admin, this isn’t possible to arrange. |

We are nearly there now, hopefully the Gov will be announcing we can all do what the hell we want very soon ! I am sure Admin will update us all once the time is right and within guidelines.
In the meantime arranging social meets is fine in mails or advertising it on your status. |

We are on the same boat to get a Norwich Social organised but to be honest I think that if it is too quick after things open up everyone will disappear early for a shag leaving the organisers sitting there like Billy-no-mates |

"Don't forget please, at the moment you cannot advertise or promote socials or meets on the forum
It's good to know we can advertise them in our status "
I might clarify this as I am not sure which way you are taking it.
The post you quoted was to events and social meets advertised / promoted for large groups, like the post I removed.
If you want to ask for a social meet within the Gov guidelines at the moment then that is fine but it would have to be in mail or your status |

"I’d imagine the website us too basic to allow them to put meets on that are after a certain date. Ie it has to be all or nothing. "
It's just a matter of programming. I'd be happy to offer my programming experience to the developers of the site |

It does say on the post that as long as you are following Gov guidelines you are within rules on the site. It isn't that difficult to understand. You just can't advertise yet on the forum as the meet section isn't open |

The meet section may not be open.
But I have seen various new forum posting looking to meet.
Are they against the site policy and rules?

Yes, the BBC does say it is allowed - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-53736087. But there are still precautions to take. This section of the article for example:
The Terrence Higgins Trust has told Newsbeat its advice on safe sex during the pandemic - first published last summer - still stands across the UK, despite England's and Scotland's rule changes.
"Your best sexual partner during the Covid-19 pandemic is yourself or someone within your household," the charity says.
However, the trust adds that it's "unrealistic to ask everyone to abstain from sex indefinitely", so has given further advice.
If you are having sex with people outside of your household, it's important to limit the number of partners you have, the charity says.
People should avoid kissing, wear a face covering and choose positions that aren't face-to-face.
Masturbation, sex toys or having phone or online sex are recommended as the safest options. |

For me this was about being able to meet and arrange socials with other individuals in a safe manner.
And that can be achieved through the meets section.
This means that the majority of forum would like to meet posts will peeter out.
