when you report some one who is abusive it would be nice if admin could acknowledge the report somehow i know you get thousands but an automated reply would be good once report has been read at least. After receiving a message this morning on our joint profile that was abusive we then blocked and reported the sender to then get more abuse on my single profile these users are spoiling the site

I doubt there are enough admins to reply to everyone that reports a profile or a abusive message or a user. I'm sure repeated reports of a profile would get them banned

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

Admin

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

--

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******

Central

It would massively increase the need for admin staff, if you think about it, just as - in reverse - if every message that a single female or couple received was to get a response, explaining the receivers decision, reason etc. Members don't do it, so it kind of follows that admin won't have the resource to.

Better to have an effective admin, who can focus their time on responding as quickly as they can, than getting them bogged down with extra messaging, plus the follow up enquiries that could ensure too. The more they have to do, the longer it will take them to get the wrong people off the site / censured etc.

If it wasn't a free site, then there would be more money to pay for staff etc, but most members are free, including the people who may be getting blocked/banned.

Personally I don't know what having an automated reply saying they have recieved your report will achieve, especially as after you report you get a message saying exactly that.

They are asking for one saying it has been read not that is has been recieved,, it could be 2 or 3 days before it get read... if Admin really are that short handed.

I guess the idea is that it will stop people wondering if their complaint is sitting in the ether or has actually started being processed.

agreed.

An auto report to say it's being delt with/reviewed or whatever would be better, than not ever knowing if it's actually been seen - and perhaps sending more than one message about it.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I always assume that, if they have received it, they will deal with it. I have reported two abusive messagers and both 'left' the site not long after, so I doubt admin ignore them.
