Online/offline users

It seems that when viewing search results, sometimes it shows the person as online, yet when you look at their profile, it shows them as offline for some time.

I’ve tried refreshing the page, but it generally makes no difference.

Can anyone explain why this happens?

I’m browsing on a phone.

On mobile I've noticed people showing as online until you message them then it shows them as last online 15 mins ago!
