"any chance of a union jack flash till the end of the Olympics
pleaseeee"
That would be a Union Flag would it? It's only a 'Jack' when its flying from the mast of one of HM's ships...
End of pedant sermon....

Quote from the Flag Institute -
It is often stated that the Union Flag should only be described as the Union Jack when flown in the bows of a warship, but this is a relatively recent idea. From early in its life the Admiralty itself frequently referred to the flag as the Union Jack, whatever its use, and in 1902 an Admiralty Circular announced that Their Lordships had decided that either name could be used officially. Such use was given Parliamentary approval in 1908 when it was stated that "the Union Jack should be regarded as the National flag".
Pedants pedantic lesson over!
PS - to the OP's suggestion. |

Well, I could quite easily pull apart the argument from the Flag Institute . . . . but I won't as, quite rightly it would not be in the spirit of the thread... And yes, it WOULD be nice if we could have a Union Flag (or Jack) flash on Fab until the end of BOTH Olympics - the current one, and the Paralympics which follows.

"Fab should stick away from posting an olympic image due to potential copyright infringments..
But yes just stick up the old banner from the jubilee."
The Union Flag/Jack (!!) is NOT an Olympic image (or Protected Mark as they like to call it) and, as such, Fab would not be opening itself up to any accusation of Copyright Infringement.

Never said it was
But others had suggested of using the "olympic rings design"
Try reading the rest of the thread before you comment..

With the greatest respect, you used the term 'Olympic Image', not specifically the Olympic rings design. The 2012 logo is the Protected Mark, owned by LOCOG. No doubt the Olympic Rings copyright is owned by the IOC. Either way there are copyright issues with both logos, but now with the Union Flag/Jack.
