TV & TS category

Is it just me or is this category not very PC?

For me there is a world of difference between a Transvestite - a guy that likes to dress and a Transexual - denoting or relating to a transgender person, especially one whose bodily characteristics have been altered through surgery or hormone treatment to bring them into alignment with their gender identity.

I have a very close Trans friend who has undergone surgery but gets very upset at being categorised with Transvestism which is predominantly used as a sexual fetishi rather than a gender identity issue.

I think it’s time these two categories were disconnected.

If you do a forum search you will find a multitude of posts on this subject. All, it would appear, turn in to bickering and nastiness between the various sides as it is such an emotive subject.

I can imagine. I’m not trying to cause upset. Just sharing my opinion.

Surely your friend should identify as their chosen sex rather than tv/ts.

He’s a female to male but chooses to say TS as he hasn’t had full gender reassignment nor wishes to.

No it isn't. The friend has chosen male as their identity, so using 'he' is correct.

He's FTM so referring to him as "he" is correct.

Well I wouldn't call them a technical TS either then and would they not be on the same category as MTF TV?

I haven't had surgery nor do I live fulltime as a woman for a multitude of personal reasons. Am I a TV or a TS?

Personally I think you may be confusing cross dressing with being a TV.

See how this gets difficult

If you look at the definition of TV & TS in the dictionary it seems pretty clear.

However with non binary, different pronouns etc it’s hard for everyone to understand.

I think dividing TV from TS would certainly make it easier to search for people you wish to connect with.

Many do not know what they are anyway loads of guys put on a pair of knickers and think there trans or whatever,no they are guys with a knicker fetish.

So you might as well lump them together and when you read there profile and see there pictures then decide.

Discussed most weeks, over years. This is the best style that reflects our needs and it should focus on us, not others and their views.

Search the hundreds of posts over the last decade or longer, if you want to understand better
