Trial Run For Video Verification
Jump to: Newest in thread
It has been mentioned on the forums many times on different threads about members being video verified instead of photo verified and seems to be a favourable way forward for some.
Will there be any trial runs for this to happen?
If there were video verification moderators for this specific task, it wouldn't take too long to verify members who want to be part of Fab.
It may work towards reducing the many fake peofiles of couples, and either of the single sexes.
Example: If a couple want to be video verified, they each write the profile name on paper in view of their phone or video camera, along with the day, date and time. The same for any sex of members wanting to join.
Obviously, this would be an option, just the same as being a site supporter and contributor is.
Thanks in advance.

"it wouldn't take too long to verify members who want to be part of Fab." I think the mods probably have enough on their hands dealing with just the normal veri pics lol. It's a nice idea in theory though. |

"If new video verification moderators were added just for this specific taks, it would speed things along "
Moderators are volunteers who do this in their spare time, would you volunteer to do this yourselves and give up your some of your free time? |

How would people videoing themselves writing their name on pieces of paper prove anything? If I was a man masquerading as a couple I could easily persuade a woman friend to help me out by agreeing to do it. If I was a "fake" o could still write my name on a piece of paper.
Mail filters allow anyone to block messages from unverified people, ppeople wwith no public pictures and new members. |

Very true.
If a couple were to video verify, they would have to each write their name, website address and date of verification.
This would surely help in cases where a person keeps using new accounts to join the site to post stolen photos and videos. It doesn't get rid of them, but it would deter some.
There will always be fraudsters on Fab who won't or don't appreciate the site, but I don't see it being a problem for genuine users. |

There are apps available to video verify using an automated system - I've recently done this for my house purchase.
Open app, allow access to camera, put face into circle. A few letters and numbers come on screen which you say then it tells you to move your head in one direction. Done.
I did also have to upload my driver's licence though (I guess for comparison?), unless we could compare it to a photo verify?
Either way the technology is out there, surely there must be someone on Fab that could code this for the site! |

If it was an option, but personally wouldn't use it. It's bad enough taking photos of myself, let alone a video! Just hate the camera, which shows. Although I have been in a few videos over the years, |

"Why stop there , why not send a fab mod round their house to verify they are who they claim to be "
Oooooo I've achieved that one
I'm not filming myself writing on a piece of paper in my home to upload to the web! I might be able to keep the kids out of the room but my dogs are always under my feet. I don't have a video camera, I don't and won't use my mobile.

So a suggestion gets shot down in flames?
I thought moderators were supposed to be neutral on here.
Obviously not.
What is the point of having site feedback if all you get is bitchy amd sarcastic comments? |

It hasn't been shot down in flames, people have given their view of your idea, not everyone will agree with you.
Your idea is in the right place for the people who could implement it will read it |

The idea in principle is great in reality a lot of women wouldn't do it so the already high percentage of males to women would be even higher.
People value their privacy both men and women but men on here are more desperate so will be more likley to jump through hoops women don't need to which is unfair but sadly true. |

Thanks for the feedback.
We're about to post a video, but without faces, due to it being a public video and not having the privacy of the photo verification the site provides.
This is just a quick example, not the full version. |

Having just viewed the video, I don't see how that would get passed as a verification. All you can see are you both writing, hands and clothes. I'm pretty sure that videos have to follow the same rules as still pictures, so it would be logical that verification videos should have to follow the same rules as a photo verification. In which case, yours wouldn't pass as it could be anyone writing in it. Sorry, that's hypothetical. |

I don't think you understood our post.
If it was a proper verification video, it would have shown our faces or naked bodies.
As it wouldn't be vetted by a verification process, we just completed the proof of username, date and website and that it was a genuine couple each taking a turn to write the information.
No it isn't a flawless way of verifying a profile.
No it won't prove that it is a genuine couple. But surely it would help to have more people prove they take the site and their profile a little more serious than the fly by nights who abuse the site.
It will either work or it won't, but where is the harm in trying?

I'm sorry if I have misunderstood, but the picture verification seems to work well enough as do the cam and meet verifications. I don't see the point of making more work for the already busy admin team by introducing yet another type of verification that they will have to check. Sorry if you don't like this response, but just stating my opinion. Enjoy Fab, I wish you both well. Xx |
