It's possibly a message that has been pushed off the first page by other messages.
I know I've clicked 'delete and go to next unread', previously to find a message. If you delete some messages, any that are not showing should move back up  |

Could be something in your browser cache if on a pc
Go to where you type in the url and press Ctrl-f5
This will delete cookies etc and direct you to log on to fab again
