Southampton social?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hello folks!
We’re working on a new social for Southampton. It won’t be a play situation but is likely to be a gathering for around 60 people (assuming interest is there).
Likely to be in the city centre, and have a minimal cost. Probably couples only for our first event (sorry single folks). What we’d like to know is...
- is there interest?
- what day works best for you?
- is the city centre a good location for you?
- would you want any activities like speed couples dating?
Views most welcome -please keep it friendly and respectful. Oh and this isn’t an invite - just a fact checking mission.
Love Mr and Mrs H

Can we suggest not a city centre pub with loud music.
We've tried a couple of socials in the recent past but they were in pubs with loud music and an upstairs balcony area. Combined it meant you couldn't mix easily or hear those nearby.

Definitely interested, and reckon peeps from this part of the world would also be up for the drive down.
Weekends are best, assuming enough notice.
Speaking only for ourselves, we have a healthy distrust of organised fun (like speed dating) but can usually be brought out of our misanthropic shells.

Haha, you’re not alone. We aren’t big fans of organised fun either. |

Definitely interested.
Saturday would be best.
Although organised fun can be a bit cringey, sometimes a kick up the arse to go and talk to some new people is useful.
I like talking to new people and my wife is very sociable, but it could be useful if you're the type to sit at the edge of a room or chat to people you already know. |

Good evening yes we would be interested.
But think a pub with a lounge area where just swinging couples can mingle with each other and not general public coming in in making a nuisance of themselves. Maybe on the outskirts of Southampton as this would make the location easier to find for non local people. Good luck please keep us informed. X |

We would certainly be interested in attending. We would echo what has already been said about trying to find somewhere a bit more private than a pub bar. We find those types of social difficult to know who's who. |

We would certainly come - especially if a saturday night. Even better if a good venue, not too noisy, space to mingle and chat. Something like speed dating would be good - helps people mix together and avoids cliquey behaviour all night. Oh and a venue near a decent hotel please!
Not too much to ask |

We would we well up for some type of ice breaker like speed dating. It sounds like a good idea so the social element can move around and everyone chats together.it could be split so those who want to can do it and those who don't can enjoy a normal social after it's done. Just spit balling ideas here xxxx |

Some great ideas here! We’re speaking a few places - sounds like there’s a bit of interest which is fab! We’d be hosting - not totally convinced on activities just yet - but open to ideas! Thinking it might be some time in March... |

We know we are jumping the gun already, but do you have any idea if its looking like late March. We're trying to organise some time off and getting the rotas early to plan ahead seems like a good idea xxx |

Hello folks - just a little reminder - if you've put your name down or registered interest, do be sure to let us know if you're coming and/or purchase your ticket.
Interest is really growing and we want to make sure we can offer tickets to people who genuinely want to come along. Thanks! |

Well, two weeks to go and the world is going to shit!! We have decided that, no matter what happens we will be in Southampton that weekend anyway. Hopefully in a wonderful gathering of a few lovely people but if not, then I’m sure we can entertain ourselves. |

Same for us. We hope it still goes ahead and we get to meet some lovely new folk and make some new sexy friends. But in the event that it doesn’t go ahead we will have a great weekend break in Southampton and make best use of Jurys Inn
We are supposed to be at Le Boudoir next Friday and Saturday (21st and 22nd). That’s not looking likely which is such a shame as it is the official opening of their new venue.
There is something about staying safe for sure but also what can we all do to support people and businesses that are going to be hard hit by either closures or drop in trade. Tricky times ahead
Hope everyone is okay
