After much discussions I have decided to postpone the Grand Opening this weekend due to a major let down from the upholstery company who was scheduled to fit our playrooms and seating areas.
It is not a decision I have taken lightly, I could have easily found another company last minute but I am not prepared to lower the quality and standards that I have maintained so far.
I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause regarding any hotels/travel, hopefully you are able to cancel without charges.
Again, my sincere apologies as this is beyond my control and will keep u updated with the new date as soon as possible.
Regards
Carl |

I wasn't going.
The club must have realised earlier in the week that there was a high possibility that it wouldn't be ready.
I would be fuming if I had booked a hotel and or travel to find out 2 days - day before it wasn't ready
It is near enough club suicide - I do hope it gets sorted and everyone that can arange allternative plans both for the club and the customers gets sorted |

Local paper...
a Preston Council spokesman said today: “The council is awaiting a transfer application for the alcohol licence from the new operators at this premises. Once this is received, the venue can open as planned.”

Just to clarify any false reports and rumours, we can confirm that the licence was granted with NO objections and premises has been inspected and PASSED with no recommendations as stated in the paper that was posted recently. All that was required was a transfer and also as stated by the council, the club was all ok to open on the night 3rd/4th. The fact of being let down by the upholsters was the actual reason why it had to be postponed which also led other planned works not being able to finalise. |

I should be professional and stay out of this really, however, why was the transfer application not made then? With the opening night imminent, the paperwork was not submitted and the licence hasn't been transferred.
The Preston council website public register for licensed premises under the 2003 licensing act does not have club entice registered as one of its current licensed premises. There are no applications pending either. With an event imminent, you could have even submitted a TEN (temporary events notice) for these 2 events so that licensed activities could take place.
A transfer is not just a simple case of ticking a box and away you go. Its an application submission, a payment of any old debt on the licence if relevant, consideration under the new remit of the premises and then approval. The premises is then listed as an approved licensed premiseson the council website.
I am ALWAYS in support of other clubs, you know that very well, but the transfer of licence really should have been approved and in the bag before launch dates went up and people booked hotels.
The upholstery is a bummer but not a deal breaker.
I'm very very sorry for jumping on here but as a licencee, I know what I am looking for in these matters and I feel that this transfer of licence is a crucial safety and legal issue that needed to be in place before the launch date.
I'm going to get slated but I need to put my head above the parapit here.
Anyone and everyone can go on the Preston Council licensing website and see for themselves. No licence is in place today...your launch day.
I've always offered you help from day one and we spoke about licensing before Entice was even a thing. I'm just surprised that it's got to this point with no actual transfer and licence granted today.

I read about the licences issue ; things can go wrong ; i would rather look at the positive side and help the guys if any professional help can be arranged ! We all get things cancelled last minute but we learn to live with it .....lookikg forward is the best thing to do --- i wish all the best to entice team to get this venue opened soon with all the hard work and passion gone into it ---- people do say them being professional and not jump into it but then will write a whole book on negatives - no need as such ( there are routes to complain if that really bothering you ) but in my personal opinion we take it positive and help this venue even if its the moral support (at least we all can do that) no offence to any one ! Just my thoughts and opinion x may all have a blast weekend ahead xx |

Ah but to get licences then you have to do things that some of us mere mortals don't understand and I for one am glad that Town House have had fixated me on how if works after all if it was just an issue of some beds not being ready would that have been an issue? A lot of people have sorted childcare and hotels to make the opening weekend and I'm gutted for the Entice team but things need to be right before it opens and people need to know they're safe and insured! |

There are many people who we're conned on this one!!! If the club are truly a victim of the upholstery than they can claim that money back and reimburse all the people who have been let down... |

The issue for me here is not that the opening has been put off (things happen unexpectedly although if it is a licensing issue then it's not as though no one knew this would have to be done well in advance) but the fact that there are differing reasons for why it's been postponed. The actual owners of Entice have been very quiet on this forum and have left people to speculate on what has appeared in the local press.
I see that as disrespectful. It looks as though not only have people been let down (and losing money) but they're also being treated like idiots because the management have failed to issue a truthful statement confirming (or denying) the newspaper reports.
There is a post above saying that people can present their hotel receipts for refund but, again, that should come in an announcement from management; not via Chinese whispers.
The whole debacle has not been handled very well at all. |

We nearly put our names down for this. So glad we didn't. We have been burned before with last minute cancellations and left with heafty hotel bills. As exciting as opening nights sound I'd rather wait until a few weeks in so I can read reviews etc. |

To all I can only apologise for the sequence of events that led to the cancellation of the club opening this weekend.
On Sunday last week I spoke to the upholsterers (who has been paid a substantial amount of money for materials), they assured me that they were still planning on doing the works Tue, Wed and Thu.
On Tuesday when they failed to show up I had tried to contact them to find out what was going on but got no reply. It was Thursday they finally got back to us to explain the delay hence at this stage we were able to make a decision regards opening.
As stated in papers from the local council we WERE good to open on the planned date. IF the alcohol licence was an issue we would of still opened and let people bring their own.
Finally, I like to thank everyone for their understandin_ and support in all this and not believe in everything that is posted in the forum. I will be happy to answer any relevant questions that are sent to club profile.
Regards
Carl

We were as gutted as anyone over the opening night being cancelled at the last minute, but to be fair Carl & Co are not stupid enough to hang themselves at the last minute without trying everything to avoid cancelling it first.
I have never met Carl, but from what I can see he has good reputation so think it's a bit harsh of some of you to turn on him when he is already down.
Yes,you may have lost some money, yes you may have been put out, but for you (and us) it's one night/weekend for Carl it's his future so lets give him a break and support him?
Carl and Co - hope you get it all sorted out soon, we will be there with bells on when you finally open and as much as we are disappointed it was cancelled we would have been more disappointed to go to a half finished club - especially as the preview photo's are amazing.
Happy Birthday - good luck for the future xxx |

You obviously didn't book a non refundable room????"
Seeing as we're on a presumptious roll, you obviously didn't seek to crack on and make a positive night out of it anyway like most have - considered other options, socials, private party in your non-refundable hotel room, etc??? |

No I didn't book a non-refundable room, but that's the chance you take booking that type of deal.
I'm with Jose - why didn't you find somewhere else to go as we did, plenty of places to try.
All I was trying to say was, yes those people who have lost money will not be too happy with the outcome, but for Carl this is a disaster - he has spent years making sure he gets this club to a high spec both in decoration and facilities and he stands to lose everything so in the grand scheme of things my sympathy lies with him. |
