Heard a rumour that you can no longer take your own booze, can anyone confirm this. Been going donkeys years on and off and the fact you took your own drink was always a big plus. If this is true it could put a lot of people off, particularly as Abfabs has just got back up and running ??

The rumour is true I'm afraid. There was an announcement on the eureka lifestyle Facebook page yesterday and as from this coming weekend, you can only bring your own drink if you are a good member (£400 for a couple). This includes soft drinks as well as booze.

There was quite a bit of debate on the Facebook page and I think most people are generally pretty unhappy about the change and lack of notice.

Not sure we understand the business sense of this change. Feels like it would make it less likely that people who go occasionally will continue to attend.

You can bring your own also if you have booked a cabin but only too drink in the cabin. If seen drinking your own at the party its instant membership revoke and asked to leave. To be honest it doesnt really bother me. I can have a drink before hand and if i want one i will buy it. Ive been to Liberty elite and you have to buy your drinks. This shouldnt stop people having a good time. However its a shame its short notice for people that have booked cabins

We just think it will change the whole vibe, especially on busy nights.... apart from it pricing some couples out, I don’t want to spend half the evening queuing up to get a drink. The home from home party atmosphere is partly why we went. Poor Mark Wilson wil be turning in his grave.

We was members of Eureka for a couple of years and have great memories and friends there , , for us Eureka was all about the party night we don’t class it as a swinging club as it’s very limited with rooms and a theme , Liberty Elite is totally different and having a paid bar works as you get so much for the cost of the night every thing has a classy fill about it from the bar area to the rooms and the open play area with the walk in hot tub is pristine .

A couple of years ago I did mention to Mike the owner of Eureka that I could see him running Liberty at some point as it suits him and the person he is (class )

All this talk of eureka pay bar and abfabs opening yet you have to buy drinks there too, they don’t have accommodation and on Saturday nights it’s over £50+ to get in compared to £35 at Eurekas, If you go regularly then a gold membership is common sense but most people that moan is the ones that only go occasionally, clubs like this find it hard to survive on just occasional twice a year visitors as it needs its regulars to survive so having a pay bar will help the club improve facilities and pay increased rent and bills. Eurekas is a very large club, probably the biggest in England (including grounds) so it’s not cheap to run so the more income for the club the better the club will be for your benefit happy swinging xxx

Fully agree that if you go regularly then a gold membership makes total sense. But for those that don't then having this two tier system is going to put people off (or at least make them think twice) as it becomes a much more expensive night out. Its not moaning, its just a surprise!

It will also be interesting to see how well the bar copes with serving drinks, what the queues will be like etc.

Dont think anyone on here has criticised Eureka for charging. I love the place and i live in the north east now so membership for me wouldnt be an option. I have no complaints about a paid bar and im sure if there is enough staff to man it then its fine. Im happy to drink my own in my cabin and if i want a drink buy it. For me its the atmosphere and people.

I’ve never been but so impressed by the instant and positive reaction of these guys. What a fantastic example of listening to your customers. Must come down when it’s warm enough. Just need to find someone to accompany me.

I have to say I think you will have encouraged many more old and new customers to attend the club

Listening to your customers is key to a successful business and you have indeed listened to them with integrity and empathy to concerns

Well done
