This applies to clubs that don't make gents strip down to a towel.

Does it really annoy/stop females/couples enjoyment seeing a guy in trainers, jeans at a swingers club,as long as their clean etc? i've ruined many a shoe and dresses with cum stains "that don't wash out easily" on them after a good session at some clubs.

I think it's about making the effort. ...we can all go down to the local in jeans and trainers anytime.

But you are going to a club to meet like minded people so yes I think guys and girls should make an effort and no jeans or trainers regardless it just says to me you are putting the effort in .

Dress down for everyone should be compulsory in areas of play but if you are just socialising in a bar or lounge area then fully clothed fine.

And to be honest, nothing more off putting than sitting chatting and getting to know someone than having guys about wrapped in towels but playing with their cock near by you .

And yes I know you maybe in a club but lads ditch the towel and invest in some nice boxers .

So yes the answer is dress smartly as if you made an effort and don't rock up at a club advertising your fave football team save that for your trip down the local xx

If it is a non dress down club then yes there should be a dress code. Who would want to go to a club full of skanky chavs? Dress to impress guys/girls.

Should be a strict dress code when on the forum.

I always wear a ballgown and tiara and suitable shoes and lingerie, full makeup and hair done.

Just like everyone else

I feel a dress code would only be a positive thing for a club, without one whats to stop, say,a builder in dirty boots, scruff trousers and ripped day glow p.p.e vest calling in to club on way past

Dressing to impress is definitely worth it. I wouldn't like to see people (men or women) in t-shirts, jeans and trainers. Everyone looks that bit better when you put the effort in

I’ve always found it slightly ludicrous men stood fully dressed whilst ladies parade around in underwear. Let’s just all get naked.

Some of these dress codes are outdated. Surely smart jeans, decent trainers and a stylish t shirt are fine in this day and age? Gone are the days of shirt and shoes, clubs should reflect society.

Basically the owners should just deny entry to those dresses scruffily, not specify dress code.

The answer to that lies in the evidence that is out there. One of the predominant "clothed" clubs over the past 20 years was Xtasia. Going back 20 year to when it began in West Bromwich, the place was packed to the rafters every Friday and Saturday. At the start they had a very strict dress code comparable to the top nightclubs in town. Over the years, their dress code standards slipped, and you could watch in parallel how the attendance fell away in tandem with the slackening of standards, to the point that in the end before the old owners sold the club to the current owners, men could come in wearing hoodies and baseball caps, as long as they had the money to pay for their membership and admisson. And they had to pay for working girls to give the guys a good time as there were no couples or ladies going any more.

It took a long time, but slackening standards is a slippery slope, and one you say yes to smart tee shirts, you soon say yes to polo shirts, then yes to rugby shirts, and yes to football shirts...and so it goes on. Yes to jeans leads to yes to ripped jeans which leads to worn out and dirty jeans.

Sorry, call me old fashioned, but a nightclub based club should set it's standards, and those who don't want to make an effort can go to those clubs where nobody else makes an effort either. They'll be in their element. Simples.

Because those who dress scruffy stained dirty jeans will be able to say,'look I've dressed in jeans, isn't that enough? It's in the dress code.' That leave the club to use their discretion... And that can cause arguments.

Personally, I don't think a T shirt and jeans constitutes making an effort. However, each to their own...

I recently visited an event at arousals which stipulated strictly....SMART DRESS....as a requirement, I was very excited to attend, expecting to be amongst others who appreciate the finer things.

Oooooooops!!!! Others turned up in scruffs. Tee shirts jeans polo shirts soft shoes even one guy in manky old pumps.

We (i went with my gf) stayed dressed all night.

Normally if you go dressed up, you chat drink socialise then get kit off.

Ladies make such an effort to look good, sexy underwear can cost as much as a suit and look amazing compared to a bloke in boxers or a towel. lol.

I think clubs should try the odd special night to treat the ladies.

If I walked into one of these places and is full of guys in trainers and jeans id walk straight back out. Id imagine at the social areas bar etc fully clothed has to be OK.. Then areas where all should either be naked in a towel or underwear.. just my thinking

If the blokes are all fully dressed, then you can bet I'll still be wearing my trousers and top/shirt too. I don't get why women enjoy that kind of imbalance so much.

I do find this genuinely interesting, the idea of ‘smart’ amongst many in the swinging fraternity seems to be stuck in the mindset of a 1990s mainstream nightclub! Half a lager and lime for the lady and a garish burton shirt and shiny pants for the gents if you please. Leather shoes only!

I see the problem clubs have; it’s easier to say no jeans etc rather than turning people away on their smart casual not being smart enough.

I would add I was allowed entry to one club in Leeds this summer in tailored shorts, a polo shirt and flip flops. I had brought the required shoes, trousers and shirt on the car but was let in without having to put them on. I’d say I still was smarter than a number of the other clientele.

I love the ritual of getting ready for a meet or club visit. Polishing shoes, ironing a good shirt, shaving, moisturising, and putting on a good aftershave are all part of building the excitement. Making an effort with your appearance gives you confidence (especially as a single male in clubs) and makes the whole evening more of an occasion. I like seeing people all dressed up and looking their best. I am all in favour of dress codes - meets and club nights are special events.

We've been to a club recently where there is no dress code for the men. Some looked as they had just wandered in off a farm..dirty jeans, baggy jumpers and filthy trainers. Yet they were there to play with the women all looking stunning in sexy outfits and lingerie.

It definitely put me off any thought of playing.

Just make a bit of effort to look and smell nice...surely not much to ask?

Near enough

To me if a guy (or girl) has taken the effort to dress smartly then chances are they’ve taken the opportunity to have a good wash, make sure they smell good, taken care of the personal hygiene and are feeling good about themselves. If someone is going around in a sloppy tshirt and dirty jeans etc, I’m not really going to want to play with them.

I can slob about in my work clothes at home, when I’m out at clubs I want to feel like I’m having a night out too.

I’m glad the clubs I go to do uphold dress codes, sadly once they slip you just end up with a sleazy social club, because if they let the dress code slip, what else are they letting go by the wayside? Behaviour? Cleanliness? Ummm yeah no thanks!

Hiding in the shadows

Showing my age, but I remember when nightclubs (standard not swingers) had strict male dress codes, shirt, tie, jacket or suit, and the effort put in by the ladies to dress up.

Today's clubs, half the blokes look like they've just finished working on a building site, and they're behaviour reflects this.

If I'm going to any kind of club now, I'd rather choose one were there was a dress code.

I love getting dressed up, and there's something very sexy about a man in a well cut suit.

For me at amours which is clothed till about 10.30 I normally where a shirt, now in the winter it has been a shirt with a suit jacket, with dark jeans and shoes

In the summer I have worn either long sleeved round next shirts, with dark jeans and blazer or tailored Tshirts

If I was going to say abfabs I would wear black jeans, black or white shirt and jacket.

Anyone that knows me outside of club scene knows I sit and slob in Tracy’s, football top and hoody’s

I wear jeans anywhere other than work or weddings and funerals and obviously any formal function. Have done so since my teens. I wear a smart shirt when i go to a club of any kind and I wear boots as opposed to trainers. If I meet a lady and she is also in jeans I wouldn't care less. If i was to wear trousers out to a date then I would be acting like someone who is not me. It's not about not being bothered to make an effort, it's about being who I am. I make the effort in much more important ways.

Some of my friends' aquaintances have actually asked if I always dress like that. Most of the time, Yes!

I see nothing wrong with taking pride in your appearance. I can however see the problem with defining "smart jeans" especially since expensive torn jeans are fashionable these days.

No jeans rules solves the problem for both customers and management.

Best dress code for everyone in a ‘non wet’ club, (but especially men)is to arrive smartly/sexily dressed. But then at a certain time everyone has to change. ‘Lingerie’ for women and specially bought underwear for men. This is the norm in Euro clubs and just works so well!

So yes the answer is dress smartly as if you made an effort and don't rock up at a club advertising your fave football team save that for your trip down the local xx"

Couldn't agree more xxc

"I’ve always found it slightly ludicrous men stood fully dressed whilst ladies parade around in underwear.

Trainers? TRAINERS???

I think sticking to a dress code is important.

Women tend to dress up anyway, but the amount of men who don't, yet are allowed in frustrates me a bit

I'm unlikely to want to get naked with anyone who gives the impression that they couldn't be bothered. Are they going to be bothered to put the effort into sex?

I'm clearly a boring bastard.

Designer t-shirt and £120+ jeans with a certain brand name means nothing to me.

I see jeans and t-shirt as somwthing you wear when relaxing at home, walking the dog or doing the gardening.

If I am going to a club, a meet or even just a social, then it will be a minimum of a collar and jacket, chino's and a pair of proper leather shoes. I personally see it as making an effort. Your designer clobber may well cost far more than my t jacket, but it is still casual wear.

I want to look like I made an effort, not look like I have slipped out to grab a pint of milk.

Jeans and a smart shirt is the bare minimum I expect from a guy. If you can’t be arsed to make that much effort, I assume that spills over into other areas of your evening. I’d rather not.

So what about the club's that tell you to dress down as soon as you go in.. we love to make an effort in our appearance sometimes Mr taking longer than the Mrs to get dressed lol but is there any point doing this if you go to the club that has this policy. If your the first people in there and you get told to dress down nobody's going to see what effort you've made anyway.

I guess in these circumstances it gives people moral superiority to know that they've managed to put a cheap suit on before taking it off again?

Yes I find it drags the club down when single men mill around in jeans trainers and t-shirt. This isn’t the local pub on a Friday night. Absolute turn off. If you can’t even make an effort with that, doesn’t bode well for what comes next does it.

To be honest it’s worse when clubs say they have a strict dress code and you’ve still got guys being let in in sports clothes and jeans.

Personally I think there are a lot of people on this thread that think they’re better than others just because they throw on a pair of chinos

How are you making more effort than me by putting on a naff pair of chinos when I’m stood in a nice pair of jeans? Several appear to make a connection between jeans and being dirty or putting in a lazy performance, wtf? Bet you were gutted when the local Roxys or Staxx night club were ripped down and you had no where else to go in your poorly fitted, cheap clothes, probably still whine about not being able to smoke inside too ffs!!

I get the No Trainers rule and to be fair I’m happy to wear a good fitting shirt but looking down your nose because someone is wearing jeans? Hahahaha

Does one person wearing jeans effect the mood of a club? No of course not. However, if dress down was allowed soon a lot of men would attend in casual wear and some would try and push the boundries further. The ladies go to a lot of effort to get dressed up and look amazing and I'm sure it takes a lot of confidence to turn up in what they wear. Turning up in casual wear could discourage this and we would not want that!! Is it really too much effort to put on a pair of trousers and a smart shirt? If it is you may be best to stay home in your mums spare bedroom with a pot noodle

Given that jeans were designed to be hardwearing clothing to be work by ranchers and those on horeback for weeks at a time, I can't imagine why people would associate them with being dirty...

The way I look at it, would you wear jeans to a wedding, a funeral, a job interview etc?

Peesonally I want to look my best. To me, denim isn't a way to do that. Does that make me devoid of personality? I guess so.

Would a pair of jeans and a footy shirt make me more attractive? Not for the people I look for.

Of course, women are not a hive mind and all like different things.

If a man is wearing a suit or an expensive looking shirt to a swingers club I would assume it was either very cheap and didn't matter if it got messed up, or he has way more money than sense and therefore not the kind of person I'd want to hang out with.

You don't need to be decked out in a tailored shirt, pair of trousers or suit to look well presented or daper.

I'm all for looking presentable because if for nothing else, because the women put in a lot of work to look sexy.

But there's a balance to be struck between dressing to please and wearing something functional. If you're going to be taking off your clothes a lot during the night, you don't want to dress in an outfit that'll take forever to put back on.

Wearing a smart pair of jeans, shirt and slip on shoes can be equally as presentable as anything more formal.

For fear of sounding like a stuck record...

I am just back from the Christmas works do. Lots of corporate groups in a hotel, completely vanilla.

Every lady was dressed to impress, make up, beautiful dresses galore. There was also the full spectrum on the male side. T-shirts, jeans, chino's, shirts, jacket and tie through to suits.

Granted it is a Christmas party and not a swingers club, who do you think got the most attention?

It does say ‘exaggerated’ and those that ‘seek to associate with’.

It’s alright women getting dressed up to go to clubs, I put some underwear on sometimes, never wear heels (tramp!) because i can’t walk in them, but 10 mins in I look like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards!

When I meet one on one I can see beyond what someone wears, see if they are a decent, hard working person or not by getting to know them first. In a club as long as they have a bit of chat and have a decent cock and tongue and know how to use them then I couldn’t give a flying fig what they wear, because basically I want them naked! I don’t fancy waiting around while they take of their fancy clothes, fold them up or bring coat hangers into the mix, how sexy is that? I’ll answer....not very

It just feels alien and we won't go to clubs where the guys are in normal clothes when we, the ladies, make the extra effort to look hot.

Dress code for a party night at Townhouse is smart casual - so the sort of thing you’d wear for a night out in town rather than a night in your local. Basically smart jeans but no trainers, no sportswear, hoodies, caps or scruffy workwear.

For the social events, it’s more like what you’d wear for a night in the pub.

As dress down isn’t obligatory downstairs, it’s nice to get a bit dressed up & see others doing the same.

For other clubs where it’s dress down on arrival, then I’d still be wearing nice lingerie & expect to see the guys in a smart pair of boxers & not a pair of comfy old pair of y-fronts with a hole in the bum!!

For the social events, it’s more like what you’d wear for a night in the pub.

As dress down isn’t obligatory downstairs, it’s nice to get a bit dressed up & see others doing the same.

For other clubs where it’s dress down on arrival, then I’d still be wearing nice lingerie & expect to see the guys in a smart pair of boxers & not a pair of comfy old pair of y-fronts with a hole in the bum!!"

"So what about the club's that tell you to dress down as soon as you go in.. we love to make an effort in our appearance sometimes Mr taking longer than the Mrs to get dressed lol but is there any point doing this if you go to the club that has this policy. If your the first people in there and you get told to dress down nobody's going to see what effort you've made anyway. "

Does that mean it would be okay to turn up in paint spattered trousers and a torn T shirt with ketchup and egg stains from the breakfast butty then?

Why not?

You attract the kind of people you want to meet with your clothes. Clothes say alot about you.

That's why I prefer dating (or clubs) in casual clothes, because I'd rather attract the kind of people who prefer casual type clothes and don't expect me to get dressed up.

"I think it's about making the effort. ...we can all go down to the local in jeans and trainers anytime.

So yes the answer is dress smartly as if you made an effort and don't rock up at a club advertising your fave football team save that for your trip down the local xx"

That’s the way it’s done at Decadence. No dress down policy, when you enter. Just dress down when in playrooms or viewing. Fully clothed, in a towel or naked in the bar area. And no pressure to dress down either. No pressure that’s why I love Decadence

It’s obviously a age thing and moving with the times , and trends , j always dresses well and always goes clubs in jeans and a nice tight fitting designer tshirt and shoes and looks sexy as hell like that may I add a lot of younger couples now in the scene and should be able to go in what they feel comfortable in .. NO TRAINERS but jeans and nice designer Tshirt on a gym fit guy does it for me any day

I never wear blue jeans or trainers except for sport ,most women like to see a man smartly dressed but its more about making an effort ' tarting yourself up '

I've not been to clubs yet and after reading the majority of this, I don't feel I will be, I'm a shy, nervous and uncomfortable person as it is, let alone putting myself through the idea of being judged for wearing what people would consider 'riff raff' when I've had many successful dates with women who I'd say were way out of my league, wearing something similar.

And I've noticed this has been left unsaid, what about the people who don't have a, let's say, flattering appearance, when in a suit, myself for example, I don't feel that a buttoned on shirt does me any justice despite not being a large person, I just feel very uncomfortable and wouldn't enjoy myself in it, so I would be that awkward guy sat at the bar by himself

Smart clothing for me is 'designer look' black jeans, a black jumper (I don't wear t-shirts) and smart trainers, you won't catch me in anything else, this is something I would wear on a date or to a smart party and have done without it affecting the way the person/people looked at or talked to me and I felt very comfortable, which in turn made me feel confident and that last part is surely a better trait when speaking with someone?

PAINT SPATTERED TROUSERS and a TORN T-SHIRT with KETCHUP AND EGG STAINS from the breakfast butty

This, for me, is taking "CASUAL" to whole new level! Just a little too far!

You missed my point. If you want to attract the kind of people who like those clothes, then wear those clothes.

If you do not want to attract the kinds of people who like those clothes, then do not wear those clothes.

Care to read my previous post of a week ago?

"Polishing shoes, ironing a good shirt, shaving, moisturising, and putting on a good aftershave " As a guy who "lives in suits" I do this everyday.

Would a 50+ couple /single feel comfortable in a designer T shirt or today’s fashionable ripped jeans that a lot of well know celebrities wear ????

Times change people move on , swinging is now a thing for all ages younger and older x

"Don't agree with any other dress code other than towels or shorts for guys.

It just feels alien and we won't go to clubs where the guys are in normal clothes when we, the ladies, make the extra effort to look hot."

Could not agree more!!! This is by far the best dress code in clubs. Arrive in smart casual, then all change. Chams is our fav uk club largely because of this policy. (And we never go into the ‘wet’ areas there). It just makes for a much better sexy atmosphere !! ( roll on next saturdays xmas party at Chams !!)

"I love the ritual of getting ready for a meet or club visit.
