Townhouse - Christmas Charity Drive
Jump to: Newest in thread
Townhouse do a lot of charity work and we usually do something big around Christmas time. This year, as well our continuous food bank collections, we are helping people on our home turf in the Merseyside area.
We are working alongside a local charity who are helping homeless people and those who live in temporary sheltered accommodation across Merseyside and Wirral. Basically it’s a bit like a shoebox appeal but more than that! Lol
We are looking for either wrapped shoeboxes or Christmas gift bags, containing essential items for homeless people as well as unwanted items of clothing, boots and sleeping items. We are collecting for specific ‘categories’ - Men, Women, Children, Babies and Dogs. Your shoebox needs to be wrapped in Christmas paper and for a specific category with the lid left unsealed so it can be checked. You Christmas gift bag can be of any size and again for a specific category, not a mixed bag.
Your shoeboxes and gift bags can be dropped off at Townhouse between the 1st Nov and 30th Nov and we will take responsibility for taking them all to the sorting depot for distribution. The boxes and bags will only go to people who have been identified as being in dire need by local outreach workers, so you will be making a huge difference to a persons life this Christmas. As many homeless people have a dog, we do need boxes of doggie items too, but these need to be separate from the boxes and bags for people for ease of sorting.
If you think you have items that would be of use to homeless people to keep them warm and dry, then we are collecting these as well. Items such as winter coats, waterproof coats, boots, sleeping bags, thermals. The items need to be in good condition as they will need to withstand harsh conditions.
Here is a list of accepted items…please make a special note of the items which cannot be accepted at the bottom.
Please try and ensure that your items are suitable for the different categories and age groups:
• Hat
• Scarf
• Gloves
• Shampoo
• Conditioner
• body wash
• deodorant
• soap
• nail clippers
• flannel
• cereal bars
• pen
• note pad
• prepaid travel ticket
• book
• socks
• underwear
• vests
• baby wipes
• dry shampoo
• cosmetics
• sanitary items
• hair grips and hairbrush
• PJ’s for kids
• Colouring Books and crayons
• Toys
• Toothbrush/Toothpaste
Dogs
• Dogfood
• Treats
• Collars
• Leads
• Blanket
• Toys
Please do NOT include: sharp objects, tobacco, drugs or any item which contains alcohol (incl. anti-bac hand gel and mouthwash).
Thanks in advance for you support guys...let's do some good deeds and tell your friends so we can gather as many boxes/bags/items as possible.

Just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who brought shoeboxes, gift bags and care packages to Townhouse for our homeless appeal. At one point our car was loaded to the roof!!!!
You have made a difference to many people this Christmas...you did a great thing
On a side night, please spread the word that Kingsway House in Hatton Garden Liverpool is open to homeless people as a shelter, providing somewhere warm to sleep and food until February. If you see a homeless person sleeping rough on Merseyside in this horrendous weather, please tell them as the building is huge and can take hundreds of people. Thanks guys xxxx |
