We are having a week down in Cornwall using Plymouth as a base.. we had a look on the clubs page but the area doesn't seem to well served by swingers venues... does anyone know of anywhere nearish to Plymouth? We don't mind an hour or so drive.. by obviously closer is better! |

There is nothing in Plymouth at all and there hasn`t been since the last club was closed by the council (not for anything the club did I`ll add) Closest there is are Swingers Quay in Torquay, Secrets and a couple of other establishments near Exeter and that`s your lot! Nothing in Cornwall either! |

You have few clubs not a million miles away. Ie steamers in Torquay and I think gems in Yeovil. Someone needs to set one up diem here. Gap in the market. |

"So many swingers in Plymouth but no club, opportunity for someone!"
....... to lose money.
Unit 18 was NOT closed by the Council, but the owner, Morgan Johnson, WAS heavily fined for not complying with fire safety instructions. It probably closed because it wasn’t making enough money, just like “Azzures”, “Exeter Swingers”, and Bristol’s “The Office”. “Swingers Quay” in Torquay survives because it is also a homosexuals club (“Steamers Quay”). The Plymouth “Manticore” homosexuals’ club decided last year not to have swingers’ events for this reason.
If I win the Lottery .......

Don't suppose you need to have a lottery win just comply with rules and regulations when opening a club such as this. |

OK. Mo couldn’t afford to pay electricians to do the work he had been ordered to do by the local fire service. He advertised repeatedly for a swinging electrician to do it for free – evidently without success. So he wasn’t exactly making a mint then, was he? And I didn’t see the club advertised for sale.
There are not enough swingers in the Plymouth area plus the whole of Cornwall to make a dedicated club profitable. FACT!
Secrets is a private house with events only once per month, and they have to charge couples £50 a time because they don’t allow single men in. Gems and Route 69 are competing hard - duplicated and triplicated adverts in “Meets,Events”. Route 69 changed hands after two years, and the new owner advertised in the Forums for advice about increasing attendances. Gems is a farm with caravan and camping facilities.
To anyone considering opening a club in the Plymouth area:
Single men are the icing on the cake. They will pay through the nose to attend a club. But their behaviour drives away women and couples. Soon there are way too many men attending, and too few women. So the men stop attending. R.I.P. Swingers Quay solved this problem by having a designated couples area where the rampant stallions can only go when they are invited. Having four floors in the building makes this easy. Other clubs resort to “couples and single women only” events.
Saturday nights are by far the most popular, with Fridays next, and the rest nowhere. So you pay rent and rates for a commercial building used on one, or possibly two, nights per week. Heating is expensive in the winter. - Mo couldn’t afford to keep Unit 18 warm enough. The facilities must be first class - Mo couldn’t afford showers or beds in the playrooms. How much money can you afford to invest?
Good luck!
