Photo ID to enter Clubs ?
Jump to: Newest in thread
We have been to 2 Clubs in the UK and one in Spain and didn't need any ID but looking at some of the Club websites they ask for photo ID.
Do they take a copy of the ID or just look at it on your way in as a lot of people wouldn't want their photo IDs on a swinging Clubs database for security/privacy reasons . A computer could easily be stolen by a burglar and sold to anyone in a Pub for £20. |

For some UK clubs it is the county council that regulate that customers have to show ID.
For some other clubs, if they are members only, you might need to show ID on your first visit to comply with their membership policy.
So far as I am aware they don't take copies of your ID but I am not sure about that. |

Any of our memberships we have shown photo ID however none of the clubs have ever taken copies. |

"Ones we have been simply look at it and verify who you are, then just note down what I'd they saw.
We see it as a simple precaution so if anything happens then they know who it was"
Exactly!
The better clubs do this to verify your are who you say you are. Nought more.
The ones that don't seem to have a lot more problems with the "RANDOMS" that turn up and get entry.

I used to think oh no I don't want to give my personal details for a lifestyle club,we all want to be discreet,
How ever I've changed my mind lately,I realise those clubs are more professionally run, they don't allow people walking in off the street,I'm going to be joining a few soon

Clubs are required to be registered for data protection. (not sure how many are). It's a criminal offence not to be.
Most local authorities (as a term of their license) require that 'an official' kind of ID is taken.
We are nearly up to 7 years of club ownership and haven't yet had an ID problem.
ID protects everybody - simple as that really.

We always check id for non members & people becoming members, just to verify identity but we never copy these, all members information is protected and should be at all times due to data protection |

What do you mean by 'ID is taken' ? If you look at the ID ,hand it back and write out a membership card that's fine . Then you know the people entering are all over 18.
But do you keep any record of your members either on computer or on paper ? If so this list of members names could end up published on the internet just like the Ashleigh Madison members or The BNP members lists were published after being stolen/hacked . |

Clubs are 'required' to take ID and make records of membership. They are not operating legally if they don't.
A club couldn't operate by not keeping a record of its members. How would they know who it's members are? Whether an ID is copied is immaterial in the sense that a membership form is still filled out and kept as a record of a members membership to that club.
No Swingers Club (and if they are they are operating illegally) simply looks at an ID and hands it back, lets you pay entrance and makes no record whatsoever of your visit.
If venues have a liquor license they also have to have CCTV in all areas that are open to the public. It's the Law.
I think that if you are really that worried about your ID being stolen then avoid clubs. And your bank and yahoo and Apple Cloud and 3 Mobile and Sports Direct and Tesco Bank and TalkTalk and Moonpig and Mumsnet and Morrisons and T-Mobile and Playstation Network and HM Revenue and Customs and The Nationwide Buliding Society . . . all have suffered major data breaches.

"Like everyone knowing you are are a member of mumsnet or sports direct will have the same impact as everyone knowing you are a member of a swinging club "
I'd be massively shamed by my friends if they ever found out I was on mumsnet... |

Please don't think I'm being rude when I say this but I doubt many would really give two hoots if you were. Most of the sites hacked for information was for credit card details.
Most night clubs record id these days too that's to keep an eye on wrong doers |

Hmmm. Mumsnet has a Private Chat Platform too. As Does Yahoo email. TalkTalk Telephone etc etc.
I'm sure there are many a conversation on any or all that would leave many people feeling embarrassed.
And yet here you are all over FAB
But as I said if it worries you so much - don't go to clubs.

Most people 'wouldn't give two hoots' about knowing which of their neighbours ,work colleagues or friends were members of a swinging club you say ?
That shows little understanding about human nature and how nosey many people are. We reckon such a published list would make for for very popular viewing indeed ! |

Some clubs just ask you to bring photo ID and just check it against the information you put on the membership form. Others will scan/photocopy your ID and keep it, but by doing so they legally have to comply with the Data Protection laws or get a slapped wrist. |

But do you think the average nosey neighbour would scour over 300+ names just to see if someone with your name was a member of a swingers club....? That would also include them knowing where on the dark web as to where to look for the list |

Unless of course your neighbours suspect already? |
