Hi All,
We would like to give everyone an advanced warning about attending Sameplace in Amsterdam. In a word 'DON'T'!
The owner is rude, lures you into a false sense of security regarding prices for drinks and then well overcharges you. You're not allowed to go outside for fresh air because he locks you in. (It's not like you can leave without paying considering he takes your coats and locks them away.)
He spent 90% of the time in the smoking room getting stoned and ignored anyone at the bar wanting service.
He was only bothered about serving the people that had just entered and ignored my request for a drink until he served them first, despite us waiting 15mins at that point.
I have spoken to some other friends who have had similar experiences so was wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this guy's 'customer service'?
We won't be going back and we encourage as many people on here to do the same. |

Sorry to hear that. But i experience it a lot in other bars or restaurants. Service can be very bad. |

We decided to go here on Sunday night.
It is a quirky little place and on Sunday night was couples only and free with €15 minimum spend.
There were about 8 couples when we arrived and this steadily increased throughout the night.
Johan the boss(if i remember correctly thats his name) is a bit of a character so take him with a pinch of salt.
Place looks like a typical dutch bar, apart from to right a few comfy bed type seating areas where we saw a few couples get amourous and to right of bar dance floor and poles and a few beds up on a stage area and a few, cross, web etc.
There was a few people dancing.
Downstairs in the play area theres a large open bed area with a few medical beds swing chair etc, in other room a massage bed and another chair where you spread legs up.this leads to a private room with windows. This was used by two couples. Going off this room was a large dark room which didnt get any visitors.
Although we didnt swing we found it had the more attractive youngish crowd than we expected because of its seediness, and was better than the showboat which ee went to the night before but we chatted to a fair few couples, and was really quite a sociable event.
Would definitely go there again, although would have to think again of the showboat, although the music at the showboat and same place is so much better than uk places. |

Interesting, we are looking to have a weekend in the Dam soon and have started looking for swinging clubs. Are most of them in the tourist/red light district or are they further out? mostly tourists or locals?

There are no Swingers clubs in the red light district. The "Adult" bars, i.e. Banana bar and Casa Rosa have gone from being a good laugh to a bit of a rip off in the last few years. |

Hi, there are none in the red light area, you either have to walk a bit 20mins or so (sameplace) or use public transport and taxis (showboat, fata morgana).
The latter are dress down places (boxers for men, lingerie etc for women.
Majority of them are locals but some are tourists we were chatting to an American asian couple at sameplace also dutch regulars.
Fata from chatting has the more gym fit, body conscious group of people or thats what theyre aiming at.
Sameplace was more come as you are , type feel to it. |

Went there about 7 years ago with my (now) ex. Not a large venue, and so dark in the bar area that you couldn't see a thing until your eyes adjusted. Curtained off changing area was a bit ropey too.
Other than that, we couldn't fault it. My ex got banged by a well hung Dutch guy, while a number of people watched. That put a smile on her face for quite a while.
I have no idea what it's like now. It may have changed ownership or management since. |

The entrance does have a curtained off area blocking anyview to thr bar, i did ask if i could have a peek first but said no haha.
The lighting was just like any normal bar to be honest, there was a darkened dancefloor with disco lights over to otherside of bar though.
