Hi everyone and thanks for reading our post! We had planned to travel from Reading to the midlands for a club night at xtasia in January.. Hotel is booked and we were looking forward to going! However, having read the recent "what has changed" thread we are having second thoughts and thinking to head off somewhere else.. From what we can get from the earlier thread, it's more about looking the part and the dance floor? I love dressing up, but we aren't there to look like supermodels and have a boogie! We are looking for a swing club! Have we got it wrong? I have the weekend off work so don't mind travelling to go to the right place.. Just want to make sure it is the right place before we get there! Any thoughts would be appreciated!

It depends on what you are looking for, for me personally I thought it was a great club as could go in normal clothes and choose to dress down if you want to, rather than the mandatory wet clubs, where men have to be in towels or shorts, for a newbie such as I, I loved it |

Thank you for your reply- the club we usually go to is Abfabs, and the dress code is smart, so as I said, dressing up isn't a problem... Unless it dictates the tone of the evening, which is what we are concerned about. Maybe because we haven't been to Chams we have got the wrong end of the stick- is chams more people in shorts and towels then? If so, it makes more sense about people dressing up to go to xtasia! Hope that makes sense- we are going into this with very little information so trying to find out if it's the place for us or not! |

Ive read about this 'dressing up' lark. I really dont get what people are on about. There is lots of dressing up for fancy dress evenings or other stuff but in terms of dress 'code' and what people wear, its utterly dependable on the person and no-one is judged on their clothes etc. My thpught is that it is there perceptions of being judged.
Xtasia is a blinder of a place and ypu should visit for sure. I happiky drive over two hours to get there. Love the nightclub vibe, dancing, playrooms and seeing old friends n making new ones. yep, heard about the dress down wetclubs n stuff and that it may be more instant play but then so is xtasia, or anywhere, if ya make it happen. Id say go! Check out the reviews. Reckon they speak volumes......
Ive not been out for a few months just because and am heading to xtasia for new year and cant wait. Friendly, fun and not a 'judgmental clothing focused' place which is the impression youve been given...well, thats my opinion! |

Xtasia has more of a nightclub feel to it whereas Chams is more dress down, chill out sort of thing.
I personally like both clubs for different reasons. It really depends what kind of night you're looking for. If you want abit of a dance, a few drinks and maybe some play then go to xtasia. If you want more of a hardcore swing atmosphere then head to chameleons. Both have pros and cons and I'd recommend either one |

This is pretty much how I describe it. Not been to xtasia in a few years but can't imagine it has changed that much in terms of atmosphere though.
