It's only been 1.5 weeks since I was there last, but it feels like AGES! Hope to squeeze in a visit very soon, possibly even tomorrow if I get some things done early enough. Pity I won't be allowed to stay for the evening though. Sigh. |

Wondering if anyone is thinking about going to Kestrels tomorrow? Note that it closes at 6, not the usual 8.
Too many things to do today, but free tomorrow. I know most people are off now, but given it will be Christmas Eve, I can imagine pretty much being the only one there if I go!
Might go Monday as well. Despite it being Boxing Day then, I assume it's Kestrels through to Ab Fabs in the evening as per normal for a Monday? Can't see anything on either website to suggest it's not. |

I'm going to post a club review about it, because I don't feel like letting it go without saying something despite loving the place.
Basically a friend and I were the last people there and the staff at the time essentially wanted us out by 4 and tried to offer an incentive for us to leave, mentioning that 'Tescos were shutting at 4.30 and they wanted to get Christmas shopping done'. Kestrels was advertised as being open until 6.
While I had been there since about 11ish, my friend had only arrived at around 3 (both of us thinking at least we'd get close to 3 hours together there) and no-one had said anything to her about closing early when she was paying at reception. It was the owner who was on reception when she arrived.
We both wanted to stay a bit later, which I don't think went down very well with the staff and while we were in the pool together, a staff member popped his head through and said they were closing the dungeon area. This was about 3.45. Pretty much straight after that we just decided to leave, so I guess they got what they wanted in the end.
I get that it was Christmas Eve, and we certainly weren't going to be slow in getting out of the venue by 6, but they way that was handled wasn't good and we're pretty convinced it was just the two staff members there who were behind this, not the owner. The staff member who informed us the dungeon was being closed came up to us in the hot tub around 3.30 saying he had "good news" for us that if we left by 4, we could have half our money off our next visits! At the very least it should have been money back off the current visit!
Although we didn't say anything about refunds, we only got our usual key deposits back (done while we were still in the changing room - they were that keen to get us out!). For me, well, I'd been there most of the day, so I'm not so worried about getting any money back, but my friend didn't receive any of her entrance fee back and was essentially only there for about 45 minutes.
I know this probably comes across as a bit mean, but I hope the staff didn't try to convince the owner they were working until 6.

Oh by the way, on a very much secondary note, they've taken the 'noodles' (flotation aids) away from the pool. I asked about them earlier in the day and was told they were clogging up the filtration system. I hope that's not permanent as they are nice to use in the pool when relaxing. I would assume there are some non-swimmers who go who need them. |

Yes, they did seem to 'black spot' quite quickly, even the new ones that were only put out for use around Oct time. Pity they couldn't have been sprayed in some (safe) cleaning solution every week or so.
I'm sure grills could be fitted over the two pool outlets. The diameter of the noodles wouldn't be big enough to cover them and prevent the circulation of water. Oh well. Not a big issue in the grand scheme of things. Was nice to use them though.

This isn't good. I'd email the club too and let them know this happened. Give them the chance to respond from management/owner. It's not on if they were advertising to close at 6"
No, wasn't good at all. I was very surprised given how great the staff have generally been since I started going in Aug this year. Good idea re: emailing the club. In fact I might do that instead of posting a review just to give them a chance to respond instead of going too public with what has been the only negative for me there so far.
Hopefully it's the owner or someone more senior who reads the email and not the staff member(s) who wanted to leave early!
My friend and I should be going on Tuesday. Given that's an Ab Fabs evening, there should be no pressure to leave early this time! |

My playmate and I were there tues 20th Dec. We were in a dungeon room when we heard lots of noise. The bins were being emptied and we were told everyone else had left. This was 11.05pm. We were encouraged to go and get changed and leave. I decided I wanted 5 mins in the hot tub which didn't go down very well. We left at 11.30pm. Handed our locker key money in the changing room as well. Closing time was advertised as midnight |

Not so good either although I think they do struggle a bit having to contend with 'stragglers' who are still getting changed past closing time. I left around 10:40pm that evening and there were still a few people around, so there must have been quite an exodus over the next 20 mins!
After my experience a couple of days earlier and how that's ended up being handled (well in the end), I strongly recommend emailing them (email address on website - can't mention it on here) and letting them know. It wasn't several hours off closing time, but still seems a little bit early to be encouraging you to leave. |

Having had the usual pre-xmas, xmas and NYE fun its time to take advantage of what Kestrel offers daytime Monday 2nd that very few other clubs provide - a relaxing atmosphere in the pool/hot tubs during winter. Its also the last public holiday before the hustle/bustle starts...good to hear holiday stories from others as well as we de-stress |

I love kestrels. It has a awoken an exhibitionist passion in both my wife and me.
L was slightly nervous to start but after warming up in a locked room (the massage room), we moved onto the pool and then the room behind the tv room. Never looked back, and she now relishes the attention of fucking in the grassy areas.
Brings me to my point ...
It is a bit cold for the grassy areas this time of year, and the club has been dead any time we have been there outside th summer months? What other clubs are more winter friendly? |

That was my point earlier - this is the edge kestrel has. No other outdoor centric club exists in the south east except Eureka in Kent but the pool is closed in the winter |
