It varies. I've happily played in public rooms amongst others, couples only rooms with a window, and lockable rooms that were locked and unlocked.
Overall, I prefer locked rooms, although that generally involves putting up with having the door tried every two minutes, sometimes sometimes forcefully... |

We tend to play in open areas, although if going for a specific play with someone, we may use a private room.
I do find one problem with open areas, is that depending on the night and my mood (I'm the male half) I can find myself getting irritated by something which kind of plays on my mind and ends up killing the moment. I'm thinking mainly about talking loudly or about mundane things in play areas, people eating in play-areas/jacuzzis, or the presence of someone being uber pushy in the room - even if it's not directly impacting us.
That said, the thought of people watching is a big turn-on. |

As with most depends on the mood and night (usually couples nights), but certainly enjoy open rooms for a number of reasons. An audience certainly adds another dimension and sometimes because a full scale orgy develops which is again another dimension. |

My tastes have changed. I used to prefer open rooms, feeling they were safer. But with the increase in poor manners on the scene I now prefer a private lockable room.
I don't mind if there's a window for people to watch, but I find it is now far easier to have a good time with a lady or group of people if we have some space to ourselves. |
