Hi all!
I'm new to clubs so excuse me if I'm being naive..
Been going Amour for the last month or so once a week with my playmate and it's been fantastic. Went again last night and for the first time I wasn't feeling it so we decided to drive to Cupids..
We got in and ask would it be possible to have a look round first to see the club and facilities..
I was told if I pay first I can look around but if I'm not happy I can't have my money back.
Is this normal protocol?
I mean surely a club should promote new people to entice them to come in before you pay? What if you're not happy and want to leave?
For the record we didn't go in as I found the lady quite persistent on the matter...
You're opinions count! Let me know ta X |

Pretty standard bud I'd say.
I understand why most clubs take this stance because there would be so many timewasters wanting to come in for a nosey or a perv with no intention of coming in.
It also protects the patrons.
Personally I'd be pissed if I pay into a place and the above scenario keeps happening.
Part and parcel but what I can say is once we went to libs at 11 on a Friday and the lady said to us, there are only 3 couples in. Are you sure you want to pay and come in.
We said yes, as we wanted to use the hottub. There was actually one hot couple that followed us into the tub and we had a great night! |

I would say it is pretty standard. You get a lot of people who are curious or maybe just want to perv.
Most clubs have a website so you can see what the club is like and there are reviews on here.

Prevents voyeurism. I'd go in and look around. I personally don't like the idea of asking for a refund but if you don't get one then just suck it up and leave a review. |

New customers get shown round not would be customers. We go to Cupids a lot and I wouldn't like it when we are dressed down and possibly playing somewhere if people were getting free tours.
Good question. Hope the OP accepts the answers. |

"I don't see what the problem is, she said you could have your money back if you didn't like the look of it?"
She said we had to pay to get in and it's none refundable so even if we looked around and wasn't happy we'd of been out of pocket |

Sorry I'm a dozy mare I read it wrong! I read your OP 3 times to check I wasn't making an ass of myself too! Grr
Ah well I would recommend doing some research before going to see if it's right for you.
It's more down to who's there on the night anyway |

Sorry OP, I misread your post. In that case I just take the gamble or go somewhere that's been recommended to me. |

That's how the land lies.
At the end of the day, how many men (single, attached or otherwise) come on here with their predicatable routines (some very creative, I must admit) just for their own strange kicks. Unfortunately this behaviour does spoil it for others, but I guess swinging has different strokes for different folks, whether we like it or not.
This would just be another tool to it, so I'm all for it. Some you win, some you lose. But we have had great nights with just a couple of people and shit nights when it's packed.
All I can say is do your due diligence. There is plenty of information and opinion on fab and other sources that will allow you to make a call.
And think about it, I've been to lots of vanilla nightclubs where I've had to pay first before going in, so it's not really something strange.
The fact that it is a swinging environment makes me more supportive of pay before you enter. |

By the way, Cupids is not a bad place. We've had a couple of good nights there and haven't come across anyone saying a bad word.
We have been twice on Wednesday for couples night. It's a strip down club and bring your own. We paid £10 last year and it was £15 this year, so not an expensive night when you can bring your own drink.
I would recommend trying out a Wednesday and seeing what you think.
And the staff might have been firm with you about you have to pay but in our experience, they're good guys that made us midlanders feel very welcome.
Hope that helps x |

Pretty standard, I have never heard of a club offering refunds if you didn't like it after the show around. It would be like paying to see a film and walking out after 10 minutes as you didn't like it and wanting a refund.
But a few clubs waive the membership fee on the 1st visit or offer a discounted entry. |

It's £20 on a Wednesday night now for a couple. It's a nice relaxed night and often has a good crowd but that might not be the case if the price goes up anymore in these austere times.

To be honest we take an individual approach. Sometimes people are absolutely bricking it and don't know if they are truly ready and come in asking if they can look first. We would let them in and a member of staff will walk them around, answering any questions they may have; they wouldn't be charged for this and we would escort them back to the reception, where they can make a decision.
Now if people came in very late or d*unk asking this question, they wouldn't get in without paying; teh latter wouldn't get in at all! If during the walk around, the people seemed to be perving rather than listening to what we are saying, they would be turned around and asked to leave. We wouldn't do this with a single guy as they need to come in on a Weds for an intro anyway, but couples and ladies, I would make a judgement call on arrival.
I just remember my first time walking into a club and how nervous I was. I wasn't sure if I would fit in and would have liked a lookaround first to get a feel for the place. I don't think that's unreasonable.
However, this is how we work. All clubs have different ways of handling things and if their website doesn't answer your questions then I would definitely call in advance and speak to someone, to see if it's ok to have a look around so you don't waste your journey; also speaking to a person rather than reading a website can often be very telling!
I would say you should try Cupids though as I don't think you hve anything to fear or worry about. It's a great club and is a favourite in the NW area

"I'm glad they have that rule. If I'm playing in an open area and random people were being shown round, I wouldn't be impressed. "
I totally agree and I don't think that clubs should show someone around without paying.
They're (the couple) there for a reason. They've made that call to try a club. And yes it can be a nervous experience at first.
But these are nerves built with excitement and anticipation of the unknown, entering a new environment and lifestyle.
For that reason, they should pay for the privilege and eliminate all possibilities of going there free for a cheap thrill at the expense of paying patrons.
And to the new people, I would say embrace those exciting nerves because they are the best moments. Once you swing for a while, they soon disappear. And whilst it's still an enjoyable lifestyle...I (we) really miss that initial buzz that we first got. |

We as a couple wasn't nervous, we go to amours every Friday for the past month. I understand people don't want random people perving as I wouldn't.
We just wanted a look round as it looked really quiet so I thought it would of been a good opportunity to take a peek.
I will go back very soon. Probably on a party night.
Thanks for the input though it's nice to hear everyone's opinions and views. To me it's really important! X |

Perhaps if arriving early you could be shown around without paying but not if the club has been open for a few hours.
On our first visit to a club we were asked to arrive in the first hour of opening. It allowed us to complete all the necessary paperwork and be shown roing by staff without any embarrassment. |

I was going to say they would probably show you around the ckub when it was empty. |

Most clubs would let you have a look around in the daytime. If I were working the door in a venue that was open I would say no as well unless you paid to get in. My main priority would be the clientele already in the club.

Have you been sniffing glue? That's my opinion if you think it's a good idea for any Tom dick or Harry off the street to pop in and have a look! |

No need to bite his head off its a reasonable question.
I do agree with the rest.
Yes it's a reasonable request and fits with other business models and does prevent gawkers doing this as a weekly jolly.
I'd also agree that a pre opening hours tour with no fee would be a great idea for a club.

Can I just say.. We'd been at amours for a few hours and it dead! Which is very rare!
We just wanted to see if it was busy or not. She wouldn't tell us how many people or couples were in the club. That's why we asked to go in.
