The council in Notts will not grant planning consent to swingers clubs. They are very prudish when it comes to anything of an adult nature, even existing businesses such as sex shops are having difficulty working with the local authority |

you never apply for planning for a swinger club you apply for D class Assembly and leisure or A3 or A4 cafe/bar as if you apply for Sui Generis you will get blocked by locals but getting planning for say a members social venue like a pool hall or meeting room would not get many people trying to block it, fail to get the planning move on to next site. it hard to take away planning. even old pubs are good. getting sex entertainment is not so easy but many dont bother. |

Can't see how it would make any kind of sense to open another club in a relatively small city like Derby.
The Attic is far from perfect and certainly splits opinion but it has a decent customer base. It is also going through a major expansion.
It makes no business sense at all to open another club so close when there are much larger cities nearby without a club at all....unless this isn't about business at all and more some personal vendetta? |

"Its not a personal vendetta at all there are plenty clubs in same citys like in west midlands etc london "
They are considerably bigger areas than Derby though and I believe xotix maybe reopened soon too..which would mean 3 clubs competing. We do not go to the attic anymore but only due to my sons friends now attending |

Open one in Brighton and you'll get the 1 hour travel base which includes Portsmouth and sarf larh-den, as well as Hastings to the East. Your clientele base will be larger, possibly with more deposable income and virtually no competition plus a strong swinging customer base to get you going. A huge gay population for special nights and a strong cafe/bar based culture. |

A stricter dress code from what? And the word friendlier implies that the clubs already available to those in the Derby area are not already friendly. Yet new paradise and the attic are both really friendly places.
Competition is always a good thing but with Derby being such a small area clubs would have to liaise very closely to make sure events didn't clash as much as possible.

It isn't just about money - and a successful business will understand that. Unfortunately, the thing about running a business is that you do need at least a little bit of money to keep it going... |

Jaydees, VA and Tease ii are all about 10-15 miles from each other and they live in relative harmony. I think that if the new club opens with a certain standard and keeps that up then others will have to up their game, but it also works the other way as well. It all depends on the owners. Personally I'd like to see more weekday daytime clubs opening. Chams is the only one nearby |

"Whats peoples thought on another club in derby with bar and up market is on way "
I guess it's not a bad thing for a swinger.
As long as it is different to what the Attic provides then it could work.
That's not to say there is anything right or indeed wrong about the venue, but it's obviously established in Derby and caters for a market.
Therefore, another club would have to be different with its offering in my humble opinion.
However, the initial description has caught my eye and sounds of interest. Look forward to te more low level information when it's ready. |

Sounds like you should open one yourself! |

That Attic certainly caters for it's market, and so does the Zouch place but neither are for us as there are so many smokers attending both it is very off putting.
There are it seems from various threads on various sites we have followed with at times some amusement "issues" with both and the managements take on friendly.
Best wishes to the new venture.

Although I only live a 10 min walk away from the Attic, I have only been 3 times. Would possibly go more if I was part of a couple though
In all seriousness, I can't see a problem with there being a second club in the city as Derby is pretty central in the country and has good transport links.
Anyway OP, good luck with your new venture and hope it all works out well for you |

Is this definitely going ahead, or just talk?
A good local club would be more than welcome, but to be honest you would have to go very very far indeed to make it not worth while travelling to Birmingham for a club night. |

It's been a thought but I've only got £4.68 |

I don't think it would work. Especially as the attic is extending again and continues its revamp.
Its got to be something very special to get the custom.
There's a few comments about the attic on here, but they only have a gripe from time back.
We visit the attic regular and also chams, however we would never go to the paradise place again, it should be done for its name being misleading.
that said there's clubs for all types of people, and ones preference is not another.
I don't think ron and team would worry if another opened anyway.
Exotics opening again? Lets hope its not run by its clientèle again..

If xotix is opening, then Three clubs will definitely find it hard to compete. More than One would be brilliant, as not everyone like the attic. And most people in the local area still seem to favour Birmingham for its clubs. |

Xotix is opening again. I know no more than that... As after we parted ways we started to help at the attic for a while. Was a good little club and we never had a bad time there. But didn't go for the last few months it was open ..
Big cities do well with lots of clubs.. derby isn't big |

For us it would definitely be of interest. The area needs an alternative venue as after all none of us like the same things. No need for aggressive or defensive posts, it's simple. The attic has a good client base and is obviously doing ok. The new club will need to provide something different to attract those who don't visit the attic and who have to drive miles to find what they want. It may also have some of the attics current clientele visiting but why not? We visit a huge variety of clubs but we still have a favourite. |

If there is a ban in force on phones and cameras we would be very interested we travel any thing from 60 to 150 miles for good clubs |
