Fair reviews?

Jump to: Newest in thread

Ever read the reviews for a club and thought 'really, are you talking about the same place we were at?'

Appreciate its all subjective but is there a practical reason that most reviews seem so glowing?

I'm reading about a place that is clean and well looked after when it's in a dilapidated old building with cobbled together facilities and sticky wet floors.

The point being that we felt cheated to have gone somewhere based on unrealistic review descriptions.

OMG!! YES!! I can't say which club I am referring to but I can't believe that 1/ it is still legally open and 2/ it gets reviews saying it is clean!

Can you pm me the name of the unclean club please, as I may be going for the first time and don't want the experience to be a bad one

I've not read any that way, clean when it obviously isn't.

But I do like the 'Avoid' ones where they aren't reviewing the club but the customers and the fact that they had a crap night, all because they sat in the corner all night and no-one wanted to play with them

All the clubs fault of course

We hope the OP has been brave enough to redress the balance with a review from their experience.

Definately needs reviewing. Some clubs tell people to make sure they leave a review and have signs up telling people to do so. Hence getting lots of reviews.

If I go to a club first time and like the club I'll leave a review.

If I don't like it because of this or that I'll leave a review but not if its local. If its local I just won't leave a review especially seeing as I work in a club it just wouldn't look right.

To counter that it is sometimes the clubs fault if people just sit in a corner all night how the club hosts and owners interact with those people is very important, that's what hosts are there for

People make a ok night & ok club, a Fantastic evening we find... surroundings don't necessarily change/affect that aspect we find...

To be fair though that wasn't the gripe. We've always enjoyed our club trips and accept that the interaction is down to us.

Dirty, scruffy rooms in a run down old building with can't deserve rave reviews. Bear in mind we're comparing to other clubs not to a five star hotel.

Very interest in knowing which one it is now.... lol

Maybe some peoples views/standards on cleanliness are just a lot lower than yours.... which is of course, down to the individuals.

While I do look at reviews and also post some, I usually decide to speculate and write off an evening when going to a new one. If it is good then that's a bonus. If it is a health hazard then I avoid in future. I am aware that on some sites, reviews are posted by those with a vested interest in the club they are reviewing so the review is not necessarily impartial. My rule is not to take reviews on face value but to treat them more like a starter for ten.

It seems that other venues, hotels and restaurants for example can managed to have balanced reviews so that people can have informed views. I'm not sure if you read a review for a dirty, scruffy dilapidated hotel you'd tell the patrons they should have made the best of it? Or that you'd have told them to be grateful that the bed was comfy.

Not sure how more reasonable you can be other than directly contrast somewhere to the competition.

Seems that either people are discouraged from being honest. Which would appear to be reflected in this post. Or we have freakishly high standards. Guess we can live with that.

VA is a very plush club and we would always compare others to it. Maybe that club would be a better fit for you guys? It is a very nice and clean place..

Kind Regards,

The problem seems to be that people often review simply the quantity/quality of sex they had at a particular club, sometimes not even mentioning facilities, cleanliness etc. Or what the staff/other clientele were like (other than those they played with). This is no help for others trying to judge what a place will be like for them personally.

I always leave a review for an initial visit to a club. It's always honest and a true reflection on what I thought about the club; cleanliness, facilities, staff, etc. Whether I play or not is irrelevant as are the other club goes, unless there is a massive imbalance which impacted on my night. Anything negative I would have a discreet word with the staff on the night so it shouldn't come as a shock. I'd only review that club again if there were major changes, like the refurb at Cupids, that I felt needed highlighting.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I will always leave an honest review, but it won't be a nasty review. I might need to go back again at some point, and don't want the regulars gunning for me.

I have been to one or two clubs that should have been condemned. However there are plenty of clubs out there that exceed my expectations, so it balances out.

Hehe, I think it's just the other way around. People always say "it is a nice or clean facility and friendly staff" and that they were made to "feel welcomed" ^^. So when other important stuff is simply not mentioned, I usually assume it didn't happen or wasn't there.
