Noticed a few clubs we've been to have a cabinet with various adult items for sale.

Has anyone purchased anything like this in a club? If so, what did you buy?

Some clubs sell loads of items, but are they aware that if they sell certain items and volumes they will need a license ! Despite the fun going on next door ! Lol

It's not the 'volume' that counts towards needing a Sex Shop License it's the fact that they are sold 'consistantly'.

That is to say. If items are sold on a week to week basis then you are most likely to need a Sex Shop type of License.

With fines that start at £5000 it's wise to find out what the cost of a license is in your area. But even that is subject to local stipulations, though most recently there have been a few test cases that have brought the cost of a license to around £10,000 per annum.

Most clubs probably don't realise that they are breaking the law already - as with the sale of Kamagra/Viagra etc.

Though you have to think about all the non-licensed Anne Summers shops as a threshold.

A council would be running into legal difficulties if they took enforcement against a swingers club which was selling things less consistently than an Anne Summers shop.

The cost of the licence varies HUGELY across councils and each have their own local guidelines on what constitutes consistent sales. Occasional sales may not count. If you were selling toys at every event and it made up a large part of your revenue, you would need a licence. Our council were really helpful when we were applying for all of our licences and helped us achieve all of the minimum criteria
