He may be single but he will be attending, if he manages to find a partner, as a couple.
"Couples of convenience" can still function like any other married or dating couple.
I realize it may not be conventional, but I don't see what the problem is because I know of several married couples who hardly play as a couple when they go out clubbing. They get in and pretty much do their own thing for most of the night. |
