"Probably a case of 'you don't have sex on the pavement and we won't shut you down.'
Bloody councils , where's their sense of adventure"
I know! Surely I have a right to say how my council tax is spent! |

OP, if it's licensed then there are controls, but as long as nobody objects and the Police are happy then it's just a private members club of which there are many for many reasons. |

"Yes I've been to a few but just curious what the councils etc have to say about this.
I've got no agenda but the question just popped into my head."
varies from council to council... for example.... durham have been fine about club f... but any club that had tried to start in teeside has been clamped down on straight...... |

Swinging clubs are absolutely legal. Whether they be private members clubs or licensed premises. Whether a council will allow a club to open in their area really does depend on the individual council. Some of them are very liberal and helpful to swingers clubs, others won't entertain it.
The private members club status means that they can stay under the radar a little, but the council and police will still need to know what activities take place at the venue, but the fine detail is not covered. Once licensed, a premises then puts their head above the parapet and are then tightly regulated on many levels.
I have found that we have benefited from becoming licensed and it's better for members but life was a lot easier before!!!! lol |

there are issues regarding any Licenced premises. If any club , pub or private function sell alcohol& Tobacco. They can be visited by the Police or Customs & Exercise etc. This they can do at no prior warning,& you can not stop them entering the premises, which inc if you are having any fun in any room etc.!

We've been spot checked once in the last 10 months since we got our alcohol licence. The police were great actually. They asked to see our licence card, they made sure that all of the relevant licensing stuff was displayed, that our insurance certs were displayed and that we were under capacity which we were by 15.
They had a coffee at reception while they got all that sorted and about 6 females tried to entice them in...they were tempted too!!! haha...seriously though, we have had nothing but great support from the council and police since being licensed, they let us get on with it, they know we are well run and are happy to help if we have any problems. |
