Can anyone recommend somewhere to eat during the day near VA?

We're off to the VA on the 15th and looking to meet a couple during the day pre-club for something to eat and stretch out the weekend.
Can anyone recommend somewhere nice? Beefeater, Harvester or large pub type place?

The Bridge is ok if you like Beefeaters, but the Chequers is twenty times better, and its only a stones throw away, have been to them all lol, have lived there over 60 years, Cornfields is really good too, as is Ye Olde Plough,Bolnhurst, and they are all about the same distance away. |
