The Attic - Derby

Hi. As I am likely to have a few Spare hours up that end of the country this Friday I was wondering if some of the lovely forumites may give me some information regarding the newly refurbished attic club in derby. One reason for this is the very varied reviews it has received and the other is the fact that the web link doesn’t work !
First up – is it in the same place as before ( I got to the door once before but it was closing so never been ! )
I understand that Friday is the opening of new parts – I am a firm believer in checking things out your self so …..
Any ideas of when it opens – I am likely only to have from around 8 until 10 on Friday night (have to return down south ! ) so fairly pointless popping over if it only get going at 11 !!
If its fancy dress for (Halloween ) would it be too bad form to not be dressed appropriately ?

I believe that this weekend is the sneak preview...
The rest im waiting on answers too.
Ive seen it although not finished and looked great. Even without the new bit the changes made have been amazing.
Not everyone dresses up for themed nights. |

Well we're getting there ! Thanks for the input .
I now have the new website address but am still unsure of the timings - have emailed the site so we shall see - the pictures are encouraging

Yes its same location it opens @ 7pm on friday night and a single guy pays just £20 admission.not everyone will be in fancy dress plus we can see how far the new extension has progressed.could be food and disco included this night too. |

In answer to your question about timings. If I read it correctly your intending to arrive about 8pm and leave at 10pm. While I can't comment specifically on The Attic, I would say that you will be arriving and leaving during the time that most people will be arriving and settling into the evening.
While there's no set rules to any club about when individuals might wish to start to play or to invite others to join in, I'd say that there is considerably less likelihood of that happening during your short time at the club by comparison to you staying till say 1 or 2am.
However I'm sure you'll still have plenty of opportunity to talk to people and to have a look round the club.

I'm off there on Saturday night with a friend. She's thinking of dressing up in Halloween theme, but is concerned that she'll be the only one in fancy dress. Does anyone know if it is a theme night?  |

I have been thinking of arrending one of the Saturday cinemas. Didn't know that it was being refurbished.
Does anyone know if there is a cinema this Saturday and howmuch Iis entrance? |

I can mail you there number.. cinema is still open but I am sure Saturdays is T girls at the cinema.. not 100% sure though but Can mail you their number. |

Me and my missus were on about visiting the attic tomorrow (well technically today) as our meet has sadly had to be cancelled with another two couples. How much does it cost a couple and is it likely to be reasonable busy? And if we were to dress up in Halloween gear would we look out of place? Don't want to be the only ones dressed up haha. Any responses appreciated |

Well I made it in the end and I would have to say there is great potential there - only stayed until 11 so didn't see it in full swing and it isn't finished but wow the place could be great.

I was there tonight (Friday) as the guy above says the place has a lot of potential now it has the extension. Not sure about couples prices but I wouldn't think that you'll look out of place in fancy dress. It should be fairly busy tomorrow |

I wanted to say WOW what a night.. cant wait for it all to be done..
Loved meeting so many new people but couldnt remember everyone..
see there is a fake review already.. or should I say one not based on actual fact.. but it seems the attic will always have its haters.
Shame... as they are turning it around.. Although as with all clubs I think that once a lady has had to much to drink she should be refused more. as D*unk and swinging NEVER mix. |

We agree totally re the above post re drinking.
We think another thing clubs have to be very clever with is ratio to numbers of single men, its fine being a mixed club, but if your going to have a night where you state the single numbers are limited, then for Gods sake limit them, and enforce a decent dress code, so you just make everything about that night appeal to people who are going to make more of an effort, and not just sit on sofa, drainers and baggy sweatpants adorning, waiting for a shag with minimal conversational skills.
We always hear of one gripe or another about this club and that, but we hear this about the Attic more than any other club, continually and frequently.
This is not meant as a slight towards the club this is constructive feedback, aimed at improving it and widening its appeal to more members on certain nights.
The couples that reviewed this place for us when it first opened use to love it and go fairly regulary, but now neither of them will go back for this reason.
Do take that on board.

on a mixed night I have seen guys refused... also they have been quite strict on entry to the door.
people known for causing bother or getting overly d*unk refused etc.. It takes time to get the balance right.
but was a great night last night x |

It depends.
I only own 1 pair of shoes, a dress pair for my suit. Normally I wear smart jeans (not ripped) and Adidas originals, which in my opinion are as smart as shoes. |
