Swinging Club Membership Fees

Is it time for clubs to drop the membership fees. I could understand it 10-15 yrs ago when there were few and far between but today the numbers have at least tripled. |

I look at it this way. Swinging clubs are a business. Rent, booze, utility bills, staff wages, cleaning costs, food cost, and then the owners wages. When your open 3 ish days a week owners of swinging clubs have to earn a living.
If you think costs are too high stay in and choose nights where it is going to be special or go into town spend £100 minimum and watch fights and bad social behaviour.
I'd rather spend my money at a swinging club than to watch the usual Saturday night alpha male show in towns. |

Aren't we lucky that we have so much more choice these days?
There is a market for these services, if the vendors do not supply value for money in the customers eyes then they will go out of business.

I think our membership at Tease was a very nominal amount. We're not members of VA and pay an extra charge when we attend which is fine by us.
Conversely we were put off by the fee for Abfabs as it's a club we are unlikely to go to more than once every few months.
I think the VA model makes sense, membership rewards regular attendees but the surcharge isn't so much as to break the bank for those (like us) that only go every couple of months. |

Still only 3 in the whole of Yorkshire and only one I can actually get to. But then I don't pay that much.  |

it is my bug bear.... because I think when you have to pay for both membership and entrance on a first visit it puts off 2 sets of people...
those who travel round and will only go to a club once a year.......
those who are really not sure about trying a club put are put off trying because of the fess....
clubs may be busy as it is... they could be busier....
maybe charge membership on the 2nd visit to give people a tester....
or have different sets of charges for members and non-members..... the onus is then if people do like, they will pay for membership because they will keep coming back....

What a good idea although some of the clubs are very reasonable we went to op4f on Saturday £15 lifetime membership for couples not sure about single guys though |

I think the charges for single guys are a bit extreme! Granted, the number of males who would attend the club would be higher if the costs were lower and therefore would probably lower the number of women and couples!
I just think that 70 membership and the 30 per visit is extreme. Why not offer a golf club type membership, where you pay an annual fee but the visits are free. I would be happy to increase the membership charge if this was the case! |

But it's the same chicken and egg scenario increase the amount of single males decrease the amount of couples and single fems then decrease the amount of single makes club out of business |

We have friends coming up to North East in a few weeks, we'd have liked to take them to clubF, but it makes no sense for them to join as they might not visit again for a year. Therefore we'll just have to play at home.
Like Fabio's idea of the two price system based on if your a member or not.

Has nobody ever tried contacting the clubs directly if friends are visiting and asking about one time only visit fees? As with lots of memberships in life - it pays to ask questions! If someone who is already a member wants to bring guests as a one off it seems a reasonable request!
Particularly for clubs with licensed bars, surely more heads equal more drinks sales?
And more bodies through the door will keep other regulars happy! |

Jaydee's don't have member ship charges and its only £20 a couple and £30 for a single guy thou single guys are ltd and they don't charge for tea n coffee or soft drinks and you get a good spead of food layed on to  |

we have a social at our club every thursday from 7 till 10 and its free to get in for all. this gives people a chance to see what a clubs like and decide if they want to become members, i think thats the way forward and eliminates the problems you mention. |

We love to travel round to different clubs and have no objections to a £5 or £10 charge for membership.
But for some of the more expensive ones, as we may only visit once a year it does make for a very expensive evening, especially taking hotel charges into the equation.
A one of visit per year, without membership but perhaps a slightly higher entrance fee would be a great idea |

Our local club has an inflated price for guests not members but for £35 which is entrance and couples membership I don't see that as a great hardship. Bearing in mind most couples will spend more than that on a night out in a pub I think it's very reasonable. Single male prices are as high as they are to limit them however membership does seem a little high but if you get rid of it clubs will just be full of single guys. |

I know chameleons will allow entry at a guest fee.. I am away overseas quite a lot and maybe get there once or twice every three months. in fairness i will be getting membership next time i am home, but i do not mind paying a fee up front (not to dissimilar from normal entry fee) Bu ti am talking as a single guy |

Membership is not compulsory though, just a great advantage if you go regularly. I think £20 for a single guy or couple on a Fri night party is a reasonable price. £30 sat. |

So what does paying a membership actually give you? Surely you should have members entrance fees and non-membership entrance fees.
And maybe have 1st time entrance fees? That would allow more people access, taking other costs in people's budgets e.g. drive over 40 miles plus b&b (if having a drink or two). |
