It's not strictly Blackpool but we stayed in Lea Gate on the outskirts of Preston. It's a Greene King Inn, with Hungry Horse restaurant next door. About 20 min drive to Blackpool, and you avoid the "shoebox" rooms that they charge through the nose for.
