So I found myself accidentally reciving a £100 fine from there car parking system.

The carpark company did not sent 1st letter. Sent a £100 fine with no way to appeal.

Kestral/Abfab with my repeated attempts. Refuses to get involved and said its not there problem! No appolagie, just. Pay the fine!

I AM (WAS) A CUSTOMER!!

Yet they still refuse.

I won't be returning!!

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS EXPERIENCE WITH THEM?

They simply don't Care about their customers

It seem on one of my visits I may have accidentally forgot.

Its behind you when you check in. So its easily done.

Also system has only been in place since Feb and I've been many times before when no system was in place.

Still. Anyone think I should pay £100 for an innocent mistake, to a business I was genuinly at when parked?

(Email reply read)

Hi Wesley

I have been handed your messages, sorry for the delay. I have been away on a business trip and only just returned to the UK.

I would be happy to provide you with all the details you are requesting. There is an admin charge of £75.00

The parking company is a third party and is under my instruction. By proving your attendance will not get the ticket removed.

Entering an incorrect number regardless of your attendance is a situation we and the parking company are unable to resolve.

Regards

.....

What? £75.00 just to get a recipt to proove I was there lol

And even then the fine still stands?...

Ok. I don't think Il be back.

If thats how things are ran.

They don’t run the car park so yes you should pay the fine and class it as an expensive mistake. If you was at travel lodge or similar you would have to pay it

I work for a big Hotel Brand as a Manager. I Know that not to be true.

Guests make mistakes all the time and we rectify it.

The charges are for illigal parking. Not customers.

Its ok. If if I lose £100, said company will likely lose £1000 in trade. Its just business I guess. And I'm a numbers guy

Im familiar with how these things work and just feel alittle fobbed off.

You should have input your car registration on the system. It is sign post and they did send out a email.

IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW THE SIGN YOU'LL HAVE TO PAY THE FINE.

It's not a fine as private organisations have no authority to issue one, however they word them.

Ok... and breath lol

Firstly. Its not a fine.

Its an Invoice at best.

.

Secondly I won't pay it.

.

Il take them to court before that happens.

.

Thirdly. We ALL make mistakes.

I can't be the only one whos done that.

.

The machine is behind you when you check in,

And that charge was dated just over a week after my Dad passed away.

.

So its fair to say I might have been distracted.

It ok.

.

I'm standing my ground on this one.

Its not my first issue here. Got stuck in the car park one night (long story)

.

Next day. No appolagies, or explanation. Just... yh blame the customer. Ok fine...

You’re making yourself sound like a professional victim here mate.

You failed to follow some simple rules and you have a hundred reasons why you aren’t at fault and are now seeking to damage someones business.

Don’t pay the “invoice”

Ok.

Well it upset me.

I parked as a customer.

Made a mistake

And was using the carpark for its intended purpose.

I didnt delibratly forget to enter details.

If you parked somewhere and 2 months later got a fine for not entering details (2nd letter only) with no way of appeal. - what would you do?

Most would explain situation to landowner and have them remove it as i wasnt parked illgally.

. Ok so you are a numbers guy.Are you saying that you attend 20 times a year at £50 entrance fee 20 x £50 = £1000 if so then perhaps Kestrels could have perhaps given you a free entrance for one night as a sort of good will gesture for your loyalty.

I got a fine too at the car park there - was my first time going since they installed the cameras, and a very busy night so reception was hectic and they were rushing people through, I didn't see the machine to out my reg in as it was behind where you stand to pay. I remembered 2 hours later and went and put my reg number in. A fine came through, I phoned the club who were somewhat unhelpful so I just paid it and put it down to experience. Parking is an issue at the club which puts me off going in the evenings as I don't feel terribly safe wandering round the street to my car on my own after a night out. The club car park is tiny and most of the spaces taken up by staff.

Mistakes happen, but there are plenty of signs to remind you on your way into the club and also on the way out. Not to mention the staff reminding people.

The parking company are nothing to do with the club. But to be fair the threads made us chuckle

In fairness, we've nearly forgotten a couple of times, I think the log in screen maybe better placed on the front desk next to the card readers, that way you can't really forget or blame anyone else even pubs have them now, but I do agree with the OP that they're normally used for illegal parking, & I know the clubs suffered from that in the past, rather than fee paying guests

There are over 13 signs in the car park and as you enter the building reminding you to enter your vehicle registration. Front desk staff also remind guests and it goes out on every single newsletter that there is ANPR.

Admin do not have access to cancel the tickets.

The admin fee is for management time to pull reports to find when you entered the club and then request from the company who process their card payments to send a receipt of this. The tills reset every 24hrs and card details are not stored. They are charged a fee for this, so why should it not be passed on if it’s something you’ve requested because you’ve made a mistake?

For people who drive, the car park of the office building just a hundred yards down the road, has private companies operating which you can pre book a space with in advance. I think its about £5-£10 a night.

As for the OP get the frustration but yup I think you unfortunately have to stump up. Hope you had a good night inside at least!

I understand this. But 75.00 admin seems alittle excessive.

.

The PCN was only for £100

I don't wish to cause issue.

And I'm sorry for the post, but my emotions got the better of me. I would withdraw this forum post, but its timed out and doesn't allow me to now.

.

It does seem like an overly complicated system.

.

Like I said I deal with similar in my jon and the system we use is much simpler, and it goes much better from a customer service/ guest perspective.

.

I agree if I got sidetracked with the reg situation it IS my fault, but simply forgot.

.

Im just alittle alienated by who experiece because I was parked for the intended purposes, and felt most landowners would intervin (if it was simpler) for their customers.

.

The email(s) I recieved jist felt abit dismissive and and unfortunity that in itself upset us.

.

I'l deal with the carparking company directly myself, as they will have a challenge on their hands with me. I'm stuborn, and don't part with money easily.

.

Anyway. Thankyou for your detailed explaination and shining some light on the situation.

I suppose if my views contrast with others, thats ok.

Hi, I am sorry but I do not remember which company has the spaces. I think it may be "Your parking space".

Maybe worth looking them up online and if it is them I'd imagine the site is listed as one you can book.

The reception staff pointed it out to me on my 1st visit after it was implemented. As soon as I go in the door now I go straight to the pad and enter my reg. It does come down to a degree of personal responsibility, but I hope you get a satisfactory conclusion.

So my work, now works with the same company as kestrals parking.

Turns out there 'is' as web portal' they can use to wipe them off for reasons e.g staff parking or customer fogetting to enter their reg. And this then gets sumbitted to the parking company to remove.

Seems abit suspect to me

We used to get alot of people forgetting. But the number has gone down significantly since making the machine to enter reg more visible and not behind them as they walk in.

Anyone else been caught out by this recently?
