Most clubs have a smoking room (place) available.

It may well be illegal, but so is shagging in the lounge or hot tub.

There have been no police raids yet, so relax and enjoy the clubs

It is not illegal to shag in the lounge or the hot tub! If so I am in major trouble! Just House/Club rules! But smoking inside a room/building where the public frequent is illegal. Outside areas are fine :o)

We were just wondering as reading reviews of clubs seems some clubs have smoking in the bar area, but guessing thats under the discression of the owners, as we dont know the rules of smoking at clubs as like people say there are some smoking areas in the clubs.

It's not illegal where there is a room with a bed in an establishment to have a room for smoking in.

There's a smoking room in cupids and xotix and you can't smell it in either club.

I think there is smoking in bar/dancefloor in arousals. I can certainly smell it throughout the building which puts me off.

A hotel can have designated smoking rooms, that is one of the exclusions to the law but clubs do not fall into that category.

That's exactly what I was hinting at as hubby smokes and don't have a problem with it but not a good idea to advertise it on a open forum

I am very anti smoking but thankfully not to point of grassing but just hope for those places that allow it and thus breaking law do not fall foul of anyone less tolerant.

Have to say what was point of the ill thought out original post.

We used to go to clubs before the ban and have to say as non smokers was not very nice, so for us, the change in law was a good for us. We would not go to a club where they flout the law and allow smoking in open forum, one mentioned on here. We go to no 3 when we can, and their smoking room seems to do the trick as no smells are noticeable.

i think there is a loophole, where if you declare a room as a bedroom then you are allowed to smoke inside..

else how would hotels be able to get away with smoking rooms..

just something i was told once, sounds plausible tho..

As one of the owners of Eureka and having recently had the joys of dealing with our local district council i can say that it is illegal to allow smoking in a public area. The only real exemption to this is, as mentioned above, hotel bedrooms. There are very strict rules about what is classed as a bedroom and how that room is laid out and even down to the type of door closer that must be fitted !

We have a large outdoor smoking area that is also used as a chill out area when it gets hot indoors, which has a roof and three sides...although technically it should only have two sides !

Some councils are very strict on smoking areas and others not so, so basically as club owners we all have to take a choice on the benefits and drawbacks of ignoring the anti-smoking laws.
