Single guys at Rio's
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hoping to kick off a discussion with/about the single guys who visit Rio's. Applies to other clubs too, but most pertinent to Spas - where 'play' is less likely.
Prompted by our recent review of the place we got a fair few DMs requesting meets, and some bemoaning the lack of action when they visited.
From a couples perspective, there's not a huge incentive to arrange a meet - as willing single guys are in abundance, so if that's what you're looking for, you can take your pick on the night.
And many of them are very presentable, measure up well, and would clearly be able find some fun in the 'real' world - so got to wondering what they seek from Rio's that they don't get elsewhere.
All thoughts welcome, but particularly those of single guys - ideally actual Rio's patrons.
Feel free to DM if you have something interesting to add - but please no judginess or weak jokes with crying/laughing emojis - we're here to learn, right? |

A couple of things I get from Rios.
A) Still not that bad a price for a "Spa" afternoon, just wish they would bring back the massages.
B) The real world can be harder not navigate, at least in a club (maybe less so Rio's), you know what other people are looking for (yes you still have to put in the effort).
C) I love the female form in all it's shapes and forms.

"...many of them are very presentable, measure up well, and would clearly be able find some fun in the 'real' world - so got to wondering what they seek from Rio's that they don't get elsewhere."
That's a bit of judging books by their covers... What isn't instantly obvious is who has "real world" issues, such as low self esteem or confidence, or speech or language issues. Some people work away for long periods, so prefer "drop-in" venues for a quick fix as they don't have the time available to invest in traditional relationships. Some men may actually enjoy the place for what it is and may prefer Rios to the option of beating a little white ball around the countryside with a long stick. |

I think the thing with Rios is that it's centrally located in London. So represents the demographics of London, another words fairly young and international. Not singleing out any particular nationalities or cultures but naturism, spas and swinging may have different etiquette for different people. Rios is convenient if I'm in London, but much prefer the more chilled, more mature atmosphere and crowd at the clubs that surround London. Kestrels, Eureka, Silverleigh etc... |

I meet lots of woman in the real world and have a fair few flings, and could have a regular girlfriend , I just don't want one, I enjoy being single, going to clubs and the thrill of it all.
I have had a couples profile on here as well in the past. |

"I enjoy being single, going to clubs and the thrill of it all."
Actually, that answers our question very succinctly. And it applies to us equally. We could be home having sex, but there's a thrill visiting a place like Rio's. And the *thrill* is there whether you get to play or you don't. |

"4.suggestion for spa - naked means naked"
We would have generally agreed with you until our recent visit where Grace decided to wear a swimsuit - which she found made her feel sexier surrounded by all the nakedness. |

Agreed, clubs allow all manner of fantasies to be fulfilled. Not quite the same at a spa. But a later post called it right - there's still a thrill in the air. We enjoy checking out the crown and wondering, and guess that goes for the single guys too. |

We are interested in trying other/similar places, but presume they all require membership? Maybe one day, but seems an unnecessary hassle."
Membership for couples is normally free or cheap and for life in most cases , don't let that put you off
And I'm sure it's well protected data ...
Chams near Walsall is great fun ..

As a single guy Rios works for me as it’s 45 minutes my house to Rios via public transport. The single guy entrance fee of £32 currently is acceptable. When I have gone to Rios it is with the attitude to enjoy the facilities and if there is a bit of adult fun then that’s a bonus basically no expectations no disappointments. I have met with couples who have been interested in a 3sum which is something that is not easy to find elsewhere and also ladies looking for more than one guy or just a hook up which I guess in a spa is easier to find than say a normal club or pub.During the summer months I attend with a FWB for the first time since we came out of lockdown and I like the way they have smarted up the place with a lick of paint. It was my FWB first time but the fact it wasn’t as busy as years gone by made it a better experience for her.We are looking to go again in the near future. I did leave a review of my experience if anyone wishes to have a look at it it’s on Club reviews for Rios. |

An interesting thread to read so far, and made me want to visit Rios if I’m ever down in London, due to there not being any swinger spas anywhere near me. I would quite like a no-pressure, no-expectation environment, to just relax and enjoy leisurely.
Speaking from my experiences of being a single guy in swinger clubs in the North, it will never be something I would recommend to a mate, and that is based entirely on the reception from the club hosts/staff, as well as how the bulk of attendees regard single guys (and we have to say couples here, as let’s face it, clubs are mostly filled with couples and single guys).
I would happily pay to use the spa facilities, and meet likeminded people, with a view to privately meeting elsewhere afterwards. A great place to make contacts, and network by the sound of it? |

I visited Rios as part of a couple almost 20 years ago and enjoyed it. I’ve been considering attending solo recently and tbh this is really off putting. I’d like to think it’d be low pressure and relaxed for a single woman/fem person but I’m guessing it wouldn’t be. Which is a huge shame.
(Please no DMs from men offering to go with me) |

Based on our experience, I think you’d have your boundaries tested more than a few times, e.g. furtive touching in the hot tub, followed in/out of the steam room / saunas. The most challenging stuff is around the Relaxation Rooms, but you’re unlikely to be around there if you’re just looking to chill. Based on what others say, maybe BGHS would suit you better? |

Agree that you’re more likely to find ‘out of norm’ encounters, but surely the chance of that is even greater at a swingers club such as OP4F? |

I guess but that seems unfair, that’s it’s low pressure and relaxed for men but not non-men. i know life isn’t fair but it sucks! Im used to clubs like Klub Verboten etc where as a woman/fem you feel 100% safe. I haven’t been to BGHS but I live in London so Rios is more convenient.
I’ve been recommended the Greenhouse in Luton as well, or ME1 for their bi nights. |

Yes the chances of finding a 3sum at a club like OP4F is greater than Rios as from my experience there are always more couples at OP4F than Rios. However let’s say you are not a member of OP4F or are looking for early evening fun then Rios is a good option as long as you are not pushy and go with the attitude to enjoy the facilities and anything else is a bonus |

It’s not fair on single guys to be treated with contempt and suspicion in clubs, but we’re expected to deal with it. What I liked about the sound of Rios (as I’ve never been), is the relaxing spa environment, where the idea of sexual play is in the background, rather than the forefront of people’s minds… |

Where did I say I treat single guys with suspicion and contempt? I’m a single androsexual fem, I go to events and clubs FOR single (preferably bi) men. I would like to be able to go to Rios and not have my boundaries tested! |

Re The single guy aspect, we frequent several clubs both spa and nightclub type and we very much appreciate the single guys that make an effort and choose to put themselves in a very challenging and often unforgiving environment whether to just enjoy the facilities or in the hope of being invited to play.
There will always be a few that don’t know how to behave but as they are generally very socially inept we have found that a stern word has never failed yet.
Keep coming along and keep the faith guys some couples do want you there! |

I didn’t say you did specifically did I? You used a generalisation based (presumably) on your experiences, so I did too, based on mine, of the club scene as a whole. I bet you’ve never been greeted at a club with;
Receptionist; “Have you been here before?”
Me; “Yes I have” (shows membership card)
Receptionist, “Well just remember; there’s always someone watching, so behave yourself”

I haven’t, no. But I would love to be able to go to somewhere like Rios and be absolutely confident that no man will touch me or pester me or coerce me. I can get that at KV (although once a woman touched me at KV uninvited so I had her kicked out).
With KV, once you’re a member you wouldn’t get asked stuff like that because you’ve been vetted (membership is free but you have to chat to the staff to prove you know the rules, male/female/nonbinary, they don’t discriminate) so I agree that if you’ve been vetted for Rios then they shouldn’t ask you (women & nbs should be vetted as well!).
I just would like to go to a spa and be absolutely confident nothing like the things above would happen. From men or women or people of other genders.
It must be a challenging environment for single fems too and that sucks. |

Actually thinking about it, I’ve almost been denied entry at Crossbreed, despite being before, because I couldn’t recite the rules. And once I almost didn’t get let in at KV because of my outfit, despite being before. So yes it does happen to non men. |

I think it's fair to say most people will find some aspects of swingers / sex clubs and spas challenging, at least the first few times - that goes for f/m/cpls.
Different venues exist to cater for different crowds. Fortunately we can share knowledge & experiences in forums like this to help us find the places to suit.
Rio's is by no means perfect for us, but as a couple who:
. can only visit daytime / evenings
. prefer not to register for membership
. like to arrive by public transport
. don't wish to spend a fortune
it's probably our best option!
And I wouldn't like to give the impression it's a threatening environment. We've never found it so, and staff are always on hand to keep good order.
The one common thread in this discussion appears to be an appreciation for respectful single guys. That alone is surely a positive |

Yes, I love men and I want to play with them (on my terms!) so *genuinely* respectful ones are great. |

Decent. Not an expert, but they have everything I can think a Spa might have. Hot tubs, sauna & steam rooms, plug pool, small swimming pool. Just note, the two 6/8 seater hot tubs are HEAVILY chlorinated. No amount of showering will mask the smell for a while! |

Not so much Silverliegh which is more naturist, but Kestrals/Abfabs, Eurekas, Pleasures are far better than Rios, and offer much more of a thrill! |

Hi there, been thinking of trying Rio's for a while now and just wanted to ask some (probably daft) questions regards dress or maybe the lack of.
What is the dress code in there? Is it full on naturist or can you wear swimming shorts or do they provide you with a towel which you just wrap around yourself?
Also the footwear. Is it barefoot or can I wear my pool shoes; like lightweight trainers but designed to be worn in pools, the sea etc?
Many thanks.
Steve. |

Steve." . When you pay your entrance fee you are given a towel. I tend to just wrap the towel round me but I have seen guys walking about in swimming shorts and few naked but the majority just wrap a towel round them or shorts. With regards to footwear I walk around barefoot as do the majority of guys but some do wear what I would describe as flip flops.I guess you can take your pool shoes and ask at reception the worst they can say is no.Hope this helps and enjoy your visit |

Yes I can second that re: showering and chlorinated smell. Always took at least two decent showers to get rid of that when I used to go pre-pandemic.
Reminded me of one time I was there and happened to get talking to a guy in the large jacuzzi (who I think had been having quite a bit of fun earlier on). After a while he then said "oh well, I'd better be going, otherwise the wife will get suspicious I've been out so late". I smiled and then replied that she will be highly suspicious of how you smell when you walk in the door anyway. His face went as white as sheet!
Disclaimer: I'm not in any way endorsing cheating. Was just amused that he didn't think of the chlorine smell. |

I was nearby recently, and decided to give it a go. I'm a nudist anyway, and had a free evening. The saunas and jaccuzzis were a pleasant way to pass a few hours, as well as a dip in the pool and lounging on a lounger watching the snooker.
Mainly single guys, plus four couples. Apart from a couple of 'appreciative' comments from guys (I'm straight so they were out of luck!) I didn't play. The staff seemed friendly enough and the facilities clean. I'd go back again if I were nearby.
The one thing that did leave a sour taste was a "south-east Asian" guy, there with and his caucasian partner. I stress that it's not necessarily a reflection on the club itself, and that I'm choosing my words carefully and deliberately here when I say that I was shocked to hear a guy speak to his partner, and about her behind her back, in such a disrespectful, vile, vitriolic and controlling manner. It made me uncomfortable, and from the looks from a few other guys, they felt the same. I did suggest that the staff might want to check that she's ok, but apparently they're regulars and he's known for it.
That aside, the premises and staff were good, and as I say, I'd go again, though very much somewhere I'd be going to use the facilities and not expecting more, especially as a straight guy - probably more chance of play for couples and bi/gay guys. |
