We decided to go to Club Play on 1st October and to likely visit Cupids on Sunday 2nd October. This also has to do with the specific parties which are announced for these days, and some other considerations.
Townhouse had been recommended several times, but we thought that we would not visit during our upcoming visit.
Please do not think that we are judgmental; and we might be wrong, but want to take the least risk, as our time in the UK is limited. Our consideration, which might be wrong: We visited the Townhouse website. Basic rules are alright to mention, but the website appears to focus on numerous rules - on two full pages! We are not going to attend a state visit, but rather a leisure time event, so this appeared a bit remarkable when we saw it for the first time. And warning messages do not effectively "filter" visitors, but might reflect some attitude. Even more, the request to dress up nicely for downstairs seems to contrast with the notion that men are recommended to wear "tasteful boxers or a towel" and "sliders/flip flops" in the "dress down" area. Change from black tie to flip flops? Our "m" will have sexy fetish lingerie in his suitcase. 
What appeared positive about Club Play in Blackpool was the variety of rooms and "toys", even including a Czech glory hole for women, the fact that the event will be a swinger wedding celebration (the swinger weddings which we had been to were all great), and the concept to let people set up a profile first before admitting them. The latter is an approach which we know from Germany (with a certain variation which we do not elaborate on here), and which proved to work very well. Going to Blackpool from Manchester will involve an hour's drive, but we will handle this.
Cupid's would be our choice for Sunday as it was recommended by you, as well, as it is open on Sundays, and as it is situated not too far away from our hotel. We wonder how many people would attend. (Explanation: In Germany, swinger clubs are well visited, sometimes even packed on Sundays, and we are curious how it will be in England.)
We had also received some message telling us that things were not as liberal in England as in Germany, so things would be a bit different. But we are not in the UK to compare, and it is also well possible to end up at the "wrong" party in Germany. Yes, 5 % of the population are registered on Germany's main swingers site, swingers clubs are listed on local government websites, and when you check in at a hotel, you can openly tell staff where you will be heading to in the evening. But also in Germany, we swingers still do form a minority, and the mere size of the scene does not save anyone from disappointment or from being confronted with bad behaviour.
Until now, we had great fun in England, and we are looking forward to visiting your country again.
