Weekday lunchtimes at Kestrel as a newbie?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Hello Fabsters, looking to break my Kestrel Spa attendance virginity at some point in the next few weeks and my likely window will be a weekday lunchtime .. say around 11.30ish to around 2.30ish ..

Now I’m guessing at that time of day it’s likely to be very quiet, maybe just me and a man and a dog?

Appreciate that “you can never tell” and each day is unique but am I likely to get lost in the emptiness of it all at that time?

To be honest it’s not a huge issue as I’d like to just try the facilities out and see what it is like so I’m going to turn up anyway.

Now, as a club / spa newbie, and a bit nervous about the whole thing if truth be told, I’ve been doing some research and I think I’m up to speed on the etiquette etc but any tips and advice would be useful.

And also : what to take with me?

I hear you need flip flops .. so bring a pair of them

I think towels are provided? Are they big enough for a proper wrap around if needed or one of those tiny ones that only just fit around the arse?

What else should I bring? I assume the showers have shower gel etc?

I’m hopeless and naive and wet behind the ears, I know, but hopefully some lovely Fabsters will help alleviate my concerns!

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, it's impossible to tell how busy the place is going to be. I went last Friday, with my FWB, and I was the only woman there. A few men, but not many.

So if your aim for going to the club is to "get some action", you are better off not going. However, Kestrels is an amazing place to just relax and forget about the outside world for a bit. For London, their prices are still reasonable, and nothing can beat a naked swim! At least for me.

Yes, towels are provided, they are big and fluffy. Flipflops- you can either bring your own or you can hire a pair for £3, I think.

What to bring? Money (cash/card), condoms (just in case as they don't provide any), shower gel if you like particular brand.

Etiquette: do not touch uninvited, is the main one.

Thank you! Yes, I’ll go with the expectation (particularly at that time of day) that it’s just going to be a chance to familiarise myself with the venue and hopefully just chill and enjoy the facilities for a few hours - and enjoy the liberation of having my kit off!

My expectations of any naughtiness will be nil, always a good place to start so you’re never disappointed!

Good advice re: what to bring and thank you re: the flip flops and towels, can’t beat some nice snug fluffiness!

Always go with no expectations. Daytimes can be hit and miss. Remember, it’s a naturist spa during the day and not all naturists are swingers, just as not all swingers are naturists.

Def take your own flip flops if you can. Towels are provided and large bath sheet size. You can buy condoms there £1.50 for 2 - just ask front desk or at the bar.

Hi thank you for this, very useful info.

Yes, agreed, no expectations other than to enjoy the facilities and treat it as a day out at a spa rather than a swing club, and enjoy the pool and hot tubs with my arse on display

It would be nice to need to spend that £1.50.. but I doubt that anyone will take pity me enough to need to!

First time there: don't forget your ID (two forms, one with photo) or you won't get past the front door!

Once there, they'll give you a guided tour and the place feels like a rabbit warren the first time but you'll soon figure it out.

I defy most people not to figure out the exit on their first visit!

I'm sure you'll have a brilliant time. It's a good venue, the staff are friendly and the water is perfect. Anything else is a bonus!

All excellent advice…. I plan to go Monday. Personal choice, but prefer bi possibilities.

But truth is, it is a lottery as to how many people will be there, so plan to enjoy a great spa amd anything else is a bonus…..

Thank you! I now have visions of going around in circles trying to find my way out! Definitely taking to the option of a tour!

I will fill in the online form before going and make sure I have ID!

"I so so so want to go here but am petrified "

That's entirely understandable - but I assure you, the terror leaves you after the first five minutes! The first time I went (with a fwb - best go with a friend, especially the first time), we were apprehensive to say the least. However, after five minutes in the pool, we realised no one pays you any more attention than they would in a bar or 'normal' venue. We relaxed and started to enjoy it. By the time we left, we had grins that took a week to leave us and we vowed to repeat the experience again (which we did, several times!).

I'm sure others will say the same: once you go and break your 'club cherry', you'll wonder why you were so nervous in the first place!

If it’s because you’re terrified of accidently seeing me in the buff when you turn up (a sight to petrify anyone!) I promise I’ll wear a towel, honest!

As others have said, I’m sure it’ll be fine once you cross the threshold, I’ll be honest the nerves will kick in before I go too, so know where you’re coming from!

Good luck!

Honestly it’s the friendliest club we have found, I highly recommend trying it on a Sunday when it’s more chilled, more single women attend and regular couples who I’m sure will help you feel at ease! The staff are lovely too!

Sorry for the bump everyone looking at their site for ID it says that you need 2 forms of ID, a photo ID and proof of address.

It also says you can use a driving licence (DL) for both.

Now does mean I only need ONE form of ID if I bring a DL, which will act as both photo ID and proof of address, or that you always need 2 but if you use the DL for proof of address you also need another photo ID, and if you use it as a photo ID you need to provide another proof of address?

Yeah, I know I could ring them, but that’s obviously far too easy! So thought I’d ask here first! Thanks!

If you’ve driving licence that covers you as they need id with your address and a photo id and driving license has both

I’m looking forward to my first visit to the ‘new’ venue ! Used to go to old Kestrels / Abfabs loads, but now I live abroad haven’t been for ages. Obviously !! I’ve got some time on Friday 13th, and cannot wait to explore the new place.

Brilliant, thanks for the prompt reply!

I do all my banking and have all my bills etc online now so don’t have any ‘paper’ proof of address, other than my DL, so this works!

Thanks again!

I first went with a friend, then introduced to more people second time. Both times at weekends

A couple of weeks ago I went on my own on a Tuesday. Very nervous as a single female. It was very quiet, but just what I needed as a post covid treat. I chilled, swam, jacuzzi’d and came out relaxed and recouped.

Would not hesitate to go again

I know the feeling - it’s that first push to get over the threshold isn’t it? I’m quite nervous about going but I’m sure once there it’ll be fine, and even though it’s new premises I’m sure once you go it’ll be like you’ve never been away.

Treat this a gentle nudge!

A great place to escape and chill during the day, friendly people and can be fun, but going with expectations is best, I go to relax if I meet new nice people even better x
