We’re undecided still.

Last few times we’ve been out there it’s been very quiet apart from when they linked up with those London clubs.

I was a member before this covid malarkey for around twenty years and attended many NYE parties. You always had to pay and pre book a ticket weeks in advance as it was really popular and full to capacity. Similarly weekends thru December would also be extremely busy leading to Christmas, but I've heard from several sources its quiet. It's a shame.

Years ago, before Mike, we used to get 300+ on a Saturday night. Bring your own drinks, stay in your car for free and no silly membership fees. I freely admit that the way it was run needed tightening up and a better business model installed but the basic recipe worked. Bottom line is this, if you aren't attracting people through the door and those that do aren't coming back then are on a hiding to nothing. We would love to return but we aren't paying a membership fee for somewhere we might only attend a few times a year and we certainly aren't going to pay it in advance without seeing what we are going to get. We really hoped that the new management would sort the place out but it doesn't look like they have which is a shame. The potential is there it just needs better direction.

We were regulars there we thought we would leave it for a few months before we joined to see how it would be . The club seems to not be all that busy now and we have not been back . We have now found another club which enjoy going to so now we won’t be going back . Sorry to say I think they need to have a re think

May we ask which other club?

We considered Pleasures as we like it there on a Friday but it’s couples only NYE.

Nafferton, nr Driffield.

Eureka's origins as a open minded naturist venue are long gone and it could benefit for returning to attract that market. A lot of naturists find the main naturist (BN) world stifling and prudish and Eureka catered wonderfully to their needs. Now, with a few exceptions it's the prudish or swingers and nothing kin between (a few small honourable exceptions).

So has Eureka had its day?

Judding by the posts on the forums, it wold seem that the new owners have killed it with high memberships costs where I was under the impression that they were trying to invest lots of money into improving the place?

I guess this hasn't been the case?

I believe that it's stated in the lease that the venue has to be naturist, at least in part.

£30 if you have purchased gold membership (£400 year) or £75 if you have silver membership (£25 year) for single guys.

They may limit single guy numbers but on recent attendances i doubt very much it will be sold out. Best to give them a ring for more info.

We stayed over a while ago and I got a phone call after giving us a warning that they had found an empty bottle of evian in our room that we had brought with us. It was made out to be like it was a criminal offence.

We rented the room with the hot tub and I was told my girlfriends fake tan had ruined the water and it had to be cleaned. I pointed out my partner is mixed race so didn't have much need for fake tan so that didn't make sense.

We're gonna be sticking to pleasures and silverleigh from now on.

A world all of his own

Sounds like it's gone vastly downhill since I visited it (granted a few years ago now) which is such a shame. It was a lovely place and the outside grounds gave themselves so well to naturists activities. The club was clean and well kept. Granted the accommodation wasn't 5 start but it was OK.

I really enjoyed my stay with the partner I was with at the time. Had the weather been kinder, we'd have stayed there the following day.

I think there were some bad decisions made when the new management took over(mostly it appears to recoup losses from lockdown), which created an exodus of the core members to the other club.

The team seem to be trying to rectifying things now... More accessible for single guys, advertising publicly their theme nights etc.

The high membership fee may still be a blocker to the casual user (and ending BYOB).

But now it is a case to woo back some of the old members and try and recruit new members too. This may be a slow process. There needs to be a critical mass to make their nights "a thing" once more.

I would recommend they need to be a lot more active on the club sections of the forums and a bit less defensive (but still responding to customer comments - their last review being a case in point).

They also need to update their details on the club listing page.

Summer is when Eureka can really "ahem" shine, so hopefully that will be good for them, the club and attract new evening members.

Eureka in its heyday way an amazing place to be. It was run on a policy of fun and openness with a large helping of acceptance for all. The trick to running a good "lifestyle" club is about the feeling it gives the people who attend it and that feeling is a mixture of escapism, relaxation, hedonism and a sexy edge. Obviously achieving this isn't always easy and the advice I would give the current management/owners is this, you should try and run the business but make it look as if you aren't running it as a business. There is a phrase, "if you build it they well come". This isnt quite true, especially when it comes to this type of business and even more so when you have several other competitors operating within close proximity. And quite frankly at least two of the competitors are offering a far better deal and one of those two are currently head and shoulders above everyone else.

The last thing I want to see is Eureka to fail. I personally have a history at the club and I really hoped that after Mike left that the club would find its way back to where it was before him but it appears that that is not the case. I sincerely hope that the situation changes before its too late.

I think what has been said is very true but as a business it has to be profitable

I hope they can sort out the issues they have with customers. In business it takes time to build up customers and support but one mistake and you can loose them . I hope they get back to old ways and make a successful club again

But you can’t run a business on this scale with no customers

There does appear to be a fair amount of negativity about the club at the moment but we’ve always enjoyed our time there.

We also enjoy the other local clubs and reckon that there’s a profitable market for all of them in the right circumstances.

Obviously everyone would rather be in a lively and busy club but if people turn up and it’s empty they’ll turn away too and ultimately end up creating a Catch 22 situation.

Perhaps the coming of the nice weather in the spring and summer and the return to the outside grounds could offer a valuable opportunity to reset?

In our view the management does not know best the customer does if you over price and put to many stupid rules in place people will vote with their feet which seems to be the case.

Go back to letting you bring your own drinks do away with the stupid membership rules and you may just save the place

It's possible the local council stopped the BYOB and insisted on them getting a liscence if people wanted to drink on the premises - rather than it just being a money making thing

I should add ive never been as even the old regulars ive met used to say 'come along with us, we'll get you in the clique otherwise no one will talk to you' which didn't make it sound appealing

If it is a case of they have been forced to have a drinks licence by the local authority then surely it would be advisable to drastically reduce both the cost of entry and that of the membership fee. The council have nothing to do with either of these. Personally I doubt the validity that the local authorities made them have an alcohol licence as the club was licence free for over 30 years. Having a licence was a new thing that was brought in by Mike as a money making idea alongside the byob. I would suggest that the authorities said its either or but you can't have both, this would make more sense and I imagine the owners thought £££ and went with the licence. But I guess the truth will never be known
