Morning everyone, do swinging parties all require ID to be shown on the door, such as driving licence or utility bill? Just wondering as they may be the rules required for a venue I’ve been to, and I just find it quite odd, and not sure many people will agree with it. Never ever been any trouble there when I’ve been, and can understand hosts wanting safety for people attending but not sure giving over real names and addresses is wise. What are people’s thoughts? Reasonable or not? |

If it’s a club then you have to show proper ID, if it was a private party we wouldn’t expect to show anything. |

As with anyone else who has personal details, they are subject to GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) and would be subject to prosecution if they shared any details or information, I think for safety reasons it is a good idea, as you never know who might attend or what their intentions are outside of the club, not everyone is quite as genuine as they seem or say. |

Clubs usually ask for ID on a first visit, as they need to verify ages. They'd get shut down and probably a full page article in the Mail if that didn't take care in that regard.
It may also be a requirement of their license with the council to know details of who is on site.
Any person collecting and processing such details is subject to GDPR laws and any leak would be taken very seriously. |

Thanks for all the replies, seems it’s the norm for licensed venues. Just that this place is more of a private party that hasn’t ever done this sort of thing before until now. Can see the reasoning behind now,

They will still need to adhere to GDPR laws. I've been to parties run as a business where ID was required to join up... But a private party, nope. Mind you, the private parties I've been to were either run by friends or by me. |

Ah, I assumed you were talking about a club (this being the clubs forum). Private parties can be different. If it's a case of the hosts inviting people that they know, they're not going to need ID, because they know who everyone is.
If the hosts don't know the guests and it's not at a club, ID is reasonable. But who are these people and can I trust them with my details? I'll stick with clubs |
