Hello all,

I think the clubs list needs a bit more care and attention paid to it. We noticed it when we recently relocated from the north to the south that it includes a lot of defunct or non existent clubs any more.

I'm not sure how the page is administered, but right now its a bit of a jumble of information thats useful and un-usuful in equal spades.

This generally wouldn't be a problem but for some reason in the swinging world most clubs have awful websites that are almost un navigatable.

So in essence im wondering if it would be an idea to start removing the clubs who haven't had a review in X months or the ones that are shut down to tidy the list up a bit and make it more current ?

Also I think there should be a distinction in the club list between "clubs" and "house partys" as they are not the same thing and quite frankly shouldn't be treated as the same

Good idea!

Maybe start a new list in this thread where people can vouch that a club exists.

My starter for 10 of clubs that I know exist because I have either been to them, or know people that have in the last 6 months are:

Adam & Eves, Eccles, Manchester

Liaisons, Rochdale

Cupids, Swinton, Manchester

Partners, Bury

No 3, Chorley

Atlantis Evolution, Stoke-on-Trent

Xtasia, West Bromwich

Chameleons, Darleston

Townhouse, Wirral

I think given quite a lot of pay to be a site supporter expecting the admins to actually administrate the clubs list isn't a bad idea, im all up for lists of active clubs and that but we need someone to pro actively manage the clubs list (id pick _lubpartypeeps to do it!)

If you list those that are shut down in this thread, we'll have a look, confirm and remove.

Caesars Coventry closed down some 18 months ago. I believe the site has now been developed into a nursing home

We think the idea and the concern is a totally valid one. There are alot of closed clubs on the list

We can add to the list above, equally perhaps a list of the clubs that have closed permanently would be just as useful, and people can add to both. Perhaps someone could start a topic headed clubs updated list 2012, people could all add it. And then it could be re-posted in a folder alongside it. Just a suggestion.

We would be careful about the house party thing though. You could classify the clubs (As we do ourselves) but we doubt Fab would want to go to quite so much trouble on their official list, which is fair enough. The other thing is that there is a very line on seperating a house party from a professionally run club. We would argue that, any party run in a house which is purposefully dedicated to adult parties, as a minimum at least once a month, has a website, and takes money off you for an entrance fee, by donation or otherwise, is still a club. It might be a different type of club, but its still a club.

Some house parties are actually pretty good, if not even better than some purpose built clubs, and obviously, some are not. Many clubs are based in private residential premises but also don't like being described (or classified) as a house party.

It would be good to hear others views on, especially our good gentleman from the Wirral here, but thats our take on houseparties.

Adding to the list on the same basis as he,(We've been in the last six months or know someone who has) and not repeating names already mentioned we can put down:

Vanilla Alternative, Sandy, Near Bedford

Liberty Elite, Lutterworth, Near Rugby

Utopias, Malton, North Yorkshire

Club F, Stanley, Near Durham

La Chambre, Sheffield

JayDee's, St Neots

Tease II, Alconbury

Infusions, Blackpool

Ourplace4fun, Alexandra Palace, North London

F Club, London (Though this is moving shortly and re-opening under a new name in Vauxhall)

Junction II, Southampton, but currently under threat of closure, and last statement said they will close at the end of the summer.

The Lodge, Glouster

The Office, Bristol

Rios, Kentish Town, London

Bristol Gardens Spa, Brighton

Eurekas, Kent

Pleasures, Kent,

Secrets, Devon

Adventures In Lust, Stoke On Trent

The Attic, Derby

Radlett, Radlett, Near St Albans

Gems Campsite, near Yeovil

There's a few more, think we missed a couple, just doing this from memory and within the six months thing.

Fair enough on the house party front, I was not suggesting they get removed but break down the club section into Clubs and houseparty's but then I see your point on how much headwork it would be to maintain, FAB would need some people taking care of the clubs page on a more active basis for that.

I do think with a bit more attention the clubs section could turn into something special from FAB though, the way users can leave reviews is already good.

the Websites last "event" was a year ago, they supposedly relaunched at the end of 2011 but have had no reviews or website activity since 07/2011

probably fair to say its dead.

I think F Club had their reviews and club listing removed a while back.

It's best if they request their club to be added to the list.

Good to see the clubs section getting sorted a bit! Perhaps can work on the week by week blatant "friend" club review wars like Atlantis / Adventures in Stoke.

I'm not sure that this happens a lot with clubs but the Atlantis/Adventures dynamic and animosity is quite unique in the clubs dynamic in the uk.

The previous owners of Atlantis opened up a club down the road (Adventures) and this has caused issues with people being banned from one or the other club and a fair amount of people who are are quite die hard about their choice of Stoke club.

We liked them both in their own ways and its a shame there are these agenda's and almost constant sniping going on.

Agreed, a Club, social, "outside of the UK" and other section might work better for the clubs page, but might be a bit of a headache to implement.

Isis asked to be removed but they are still running.

F Club is closing its doors and re-opening in Vauxhall, under the name, Blue Saphire, we think it was.

We would suggest waiting to see what happens with that, but we think there will be a big furor when it does open, so no doubt it can be added there.
