I am venturing to Berlin for an indefinite amount of time later this year and I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations in Germany?
I won't know anyone in the city, so I'll be wandering solo.
Many thanks in advance x |

there is a new superclub opened in an old powerstation like battersea, i have read about it, but forget the name.
The theme is true decedence.
Fly in friday, go to the club, it holds 3000 people, dont sleep, do whatever you want to whomever you want, fly home sunday. Apparently you can snooze if you need it.
Dj's spin the dance tunes.
I haven't been, i have only read about it and seen pictures.
If anyone can confirm the name or the existance i would be grateful. |

There's about 30 clubs in Berlin
Several of these are very S & M dominated.
Insomnia use to be one of the best though we heard its been superceded by some of the newer clubs. The one described above sounds very similar to it, a large nightclub, but Insomnia had a pool as well, so we think this will be a different venue. the club described above sounds more like the Berghain which is built in a huge abandoned power station near the Ostbahnhof, Berghain (so named because it's located at the border of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain) is truly impressive: Focusing on purist techno, its main dance floor has 18-meter-high ceilings with black steel and concrete walls. A flight of stairs leads you upstairs into the Panoramabar, where partygoers dance to electro and house underneath gigantic Wolfgang Tillmans genitalia photos and windows that look out over East Berlin. There is a gay sex club in the basement, possibly swingers events are run there by the same company, but its not a permanent swingers venue. |

That's great stuff, thanks to everyone who posted.
Maybe I need to do a little research before I immerse myself as a travelling nomad, but it looks like lots of adventures are on the horizons!

I lived in Berlin many years ago, before the Wall came down. The best area at the time for sex clubs, porno bars etc was the Kufurstendamm or Ku'dam for short. Another area with loads of porno bars, strip joints etc was Charlottenburg. Things may have changed now but the area to avoid is the Turkish immigrants sector, can't remember it's name now, but venture there and you are likely to get mugged or worse. Take care and have a good time. One thing's for sure, if it's wall-to-wall sex you want Berlin's the place! |

The Turkish area is called Kreuzberg
It's ace, very multi-cultural (as is most of Berlin really).
Have been many a time and never seen any problems (or been mugged for that matter).
If you don't want to see men doing unspeakable things to each other in badly lit rooms, avoid Fuggerstrasse
Then again, that was where I witnessed my first (and only) porno movie that involved the use of a Fork Lift Truck |

Very good little club in Kreuzberg, on the main drag through the suburb. Close enough to the U-bahn for pretty good access from anywhere reasonably quickly.
Wish I could remember the name though. |

One went to a place called "PC Paerchenklub" which utilised one of the redundant embassy buldings (how many embassies will Chile need in Berlin anyway?) As you can imagine from an ex-embassy, the quality of the bulding and facilities was excellent.
I think it has changed its name now, and is called "Avarus". That seems to be the top club in Berlin anyway, and you can see them advertising themselves all over town. There is even a double decker bus painted out as a mobile advert for the club.
Anyway, for more info try www.avarus-berlin dot de slash swingerclub slash swingersclub dot html |
