Blocking winks
Jump to: Newest in thread
Dear Fab admin,
Here's a suggestion which should be made available for those who rather not receive winks. In the same manner as your privacy settings allow you to block picture fabbing and who message you, people should also be able to choose whether to allow and block winks. Although popular, especially amongst single men, not everyone likes winks and its nothing more annoying than receive them when not welcomed. Writing something in the profile is not enough to deter people as often profiles aren't even read. Having the choice to block winks would be a brilliant idea as it would give people a choice.
Thanks |

Could you just not look at your winks page? That way you don't even need an opt out option.

Nowhere on my profile do i ask or hope for other single males to look me up, yet i click on "Looked at you" daily and there they are, on average 9 out of 10 looks are my fellow single males, i dont want to block them, i dont want to restrict them doing what they want, but what truely pisses me off is zero contact, no hint at them being intertested in a single element of what my profile info and interests listed appeal to them, just idle looking, to the point even a wink out of a type of aknowledgement that they have looked and liked digesting my info would be welcome.
You put yourself on this site for mutual interest, you are by having a profile, advertising yourself as,,"swingers", people, not absolutely perfectly matching what you absolutely are looking for will look you up,and goodness, wink you to signify they have. |

Indeed we're swingers and we have enjoyed the lifestyle individually and together for over ten years but adveritsing in a swinging site is never implied that one has to tolerate everything and anyone.I think we established very clearly that we don't like winks but interesting enough we had to put with over 30 winks daily. We have kindly asked people to refrain from doing that and as you probably guess no one cared to respect our wishes. Mostly, single men representing 98% of all winks. The sad outcome? blocking men which we felt necessary yet very sad for those great guys out there. If the choice to block winks being there, we never had to take such measures but simply exercise our preference. Fab say...ignore the winks. Well, talking from experience, you ignore the winks and they start with the friend request or as some desperate cases, send a message through the verifications. Mutual interest you said? yes, with people who are respectful of one's wishes for starters. Some people love winks and its great. We don't cherish their enthusiasm and end of the day is our profile our rules. Hence people can rant as much as they like about why don't you like them, what's worng with winks etc etc..... Happy swinging or in this instance happy winking.

Couple of things to clarify? One: most facilities in fabs are brilliant and two: no one here was criticism Fabs for their efforts to improve the site. In fact, we were doing what supposely says on the tin - putting forward suggestion but like with most things, some like a suggestion and some hate them. You can't please everyone, can you? |

Currently there is indeed a filter to block people of certain age groups and couples if the MM or FF. Fabs even allow you to filter out those who aren't supporters (interesting that one)or newbies or people without pictures. Surely some are lovely people amongst those groups so why we have the ability to block them? I only guess is to give people a choice. Interesting concept choice ay? LOL
PS Takes no time to delete winks? hahaha that depends on how many winks you get sunshine |

Very true but when will it end with the can you block this can you block that.. never there will allways be things out there to inprove the site but is it practical ... nope in my view

how can any single male know your not into single males without looking at your profile haha
if you have nothing on your profile to say you want single men, then i guess this is why they look at your profile and dont message.
what are you asking for, guys who you have no interest in to message you lol
if you dont like it ban single men, then they dont even show up in your looked at me page.
but really anyone can look at your profile, i dont understand why anyone has to message or wink you if they do |

and its not like its a single male thing, when i had couple account on here i used to get couples winking at us both too all the time.
some people just use it as a easy way to suggest they might want to chat, cant disable it, but its not that bad, it dont even have a popup message or anything up there that could irritate you saying read your winks! |

This has continued since last week, afraid I was too busy enjoying myself(and others) not worrying over winking issuesI've looked at the thread that started this and this thread...its all fair enough...but has it really been such a disastrous winking weekend?
the case is simple..anyone winks u's block them...in my opinion I'd rather ease up and enjoy things..like I have done...without kleenex or porn..or using pics Ive fabbed! |

Most people (like us now) don't have full profiles and public pics of both are the couple are non existent.
We always get winks from these types of profiles, and they are useless. Wouldn't care, but you get that notice at the top of the page.. so you have to click on it, to remove it, and then delete the winks..
If you have filters not allowing other types of contact and contact from others, then we think blocking winks is not that hard to do, and alot would appreciate it, given that lots of people have "dont wink" on their profile.
So yes please give people the option of blocking winks, just like the option of not allowing pics to be fab'd. |

I think it would be a good idea personally
We don't like winks much, yes it's real easy to ignore or just don't look but we think that if someone was to try sending you a wink then got a message (sorry this user don't accept winks, please send a message instead) then indeed they may senf a message.
There is a forum named
"Fabswingers.com site feedback: All about the Fab Swingers site. (((((Ideas))))), bug reports, suggestions for improvements"
Maybe this thread might of been better in there?
Fabs is a fantastic site, we feel the best there is and yes admin have put a lot of effort into it but can't see a problem in making a suggestion?

Thank you Tony,we've taken on board your suggestion that maybe this post would have been better in a different forum and we agree with you maybe it would, but to be honest I think we'd have faced the same response and the same childish comments as we have here.
We always thought swingers were people with open minds willing to embrace the opinions of others yet sometimes it feels in the forums that this is not the case and anyone that goes against the majority so to speak must face the backlash. |
