Blocked people still able to view my cam

You Dont Need to Know, right now

I've recently found out that blocking people doesn't stop them from viewing my cam. I had thought that by blocking someone, then closing and re-starting my cam, this would prevent the blocked person from being able to view my cam. However, this is not the case, if they already have my cam open.

Apparently, the only thing that stops a blocked person from viewing a cam is if the BLOCKED person clicks off the cam. So the only way to prevent blocked people from viewing is to turn the cam off, until they get bored.

I'd like a method that is under MY control, to prevent a blocked person from viewing my cam. Thanks

That is what I thought, but it is not the case. They still see the current moving image of me.

I tested this with one of the chatters yesterday, and he confirmed that (when I temporarily blocked him) he saw me moving. (I flicked Vs at the cam - which I never do - and he confirmed that he could see me flicking the Vs).

I had even closed chat completely (not just my cam) but he could still see me when I came back into chat, because he hadn't clicked off my cam.

It's annoying to think that WE can't block people from viewing our cams.

yes it really annoys me to just imagine how many people we've yet to block are allowed to view them

I could be wrong but I believe it says somewhere that it takes some time for blocking someone viewing your cam to work. Try it again with someone and leave it longer. Also try getting them to close the window and see if they can find you again afterwards.

I'm happy that they can't open my cam once they've closed it (I know this because I've been blocked by one or two cammers lolol). But the length of time it takes for a block to prevent someone viewing a cam seems to be 'until they click off', which is what I'm unhappy with.

Place your finger, over your lens, not the Vs and then leave the room. Leave chat and then return. They will only see a black screen when you return, or not be able to click your cam at all, due to the block. 5OO is your limit.

This is what I did, but it didn't work. Because HE hadn't clicked off my cam while I was gone, when I opened my cam again, he could see my moving image.

So I guess the only way is to leave my cam off until the blocked person leaves chat.

Yes, ive noticed this. It horrible, i wont go on cam anymore now. This site should make people much more aware of how things work in chat with cams. When i first joined i was not aware.

Ive also had my in built cam hacked while in fab chat. whoever the weirdo was was able to view my cam anytime without the light coming on over a period of about 3 weeks UNTIL i took my laptop in for repairs for another issue. very very creepy. i now have tape over my inbuilt cam and only ever use a plug in cam on the rare occasions that i use it.

I keep a permanent piece of paper taped over my cam, I just don't trust that it cant be hacked into.

"500 what is limited?"

I think the 500 is the number of blocks which are effective in the chatrooms.

When blocking anyone, in chat, via here or messages. if you don't like the colour of someone's shoes it's limited to 500. Which I reached on my last profile.

I've mentioned in the past that IT should carry out maintenence for those IDs not used after 12 months plus. Far to many dorment profiles.

Nope, apparently those at the bottom of the list who have been blocked longest drop off the list and become unblocked

The limit of around 500 only applies to blocking people from seeing you in the Chat Rooms. There is no limit on the number of people who you can block from seeing your profile or messaging you.
