This seems to have been going on for some time now, have tried settings, updates, all make no odds, is it the site, if so, the problem has been there for a few days now...
We made an update to chat approx 20 minutes ago.
It is probably this you saw. We're making some software updates to attempt to fix some issues in chat that have been occurring recently.
As always when there are glitches/outages we'll be adding time to all site supporter passes, so no one loses out.
