I can't get my camera to work. Can someone more technically minded than me help?
Probably not, I'm an I.T. technician, and this has floored me.
Doesn't help that I almost exclusively use Kubuntu Linux, and my webcam is an app called droidcam that uses your smartphone on Wi-Fi to get you a crisp, clear webcam stream.
I followed the instructions here, probably done it a hundred times before. https://www.dev47apps.com/droidcam/linux/
Using droidcam and webcamoid (webcam monitoring software for linux), I can get a video on my computer screen from the smartphone.
The issue is limited to my desktop as I can run this set up from my laptop and my work laptop no problem. It is also limited to the fabswingers.com chat as I can get the video to play using this simple test https://webrtc.github.io/test-pages/src/single-video/
So, it is only wonky on one device, and on fabswingers.com but it is also wonky across browsers (Chromium, Firefox apt install and flatpak, not tried a snap install) and wonky across webcam devices (using a piece-of-poop USB webcam instead of high-quality feed from droidcam).
If you've got so far, and understand what I've written, you may be able to help.
Otherwise, when I get home tonight, I'm going to wipe and reload my PC before I have a wank! |
